IMPROVEMENT IN PLOWS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 181,746, dated August 29, 1876; application filed June 26, 1876.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ROBERT C. TRAWEEK, of Blanco, in the county of Blanco and State of Texas, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Plows, of which the following is a specification:

The object of this invention is to furnish an improved plow, which shall be so constructed that the gang of plows may be readily adjusted wider apart or closer together, and all abreast or one in advance of the other, while the plows shall all the time be held straight forward. The invention consists in the combination of the two cross-bars, pivoted at their centers to the beam, the standards pivoted at their upper ends to the rear cross-bar, the braces pivoted at their forward ends to the forward cross-bar, the adjustable chain and the adjustable hook-plate with each other, and with the plow-beam, as hereinafter-fully described.
A is the plow-beam, to the forward end of which the draft is applied, and to the rear part of which are attached the handles B. To the'under side of the rear end of the plowbeam A is pivoted by a bolt, 0, the center of the cross-bar O, to which, at equal distances apart, are pivoted, by bolts d, the upper ends of the standards D. To the lower ends of the standards D are attached the plows E,
and to said standards a littleabove their lower ends are attached the rear ends of the braces F, the forward ends of which are pivoted to a cross-bar, G. The cross-bar G is pivoted at its center to the beam A, by a bolt, 9. By this construction, however, the bars 0 G may be turned upon their pivots, theplows will always be equally distant from each other, and will be square with the line of draft. To the ends of the forward cross-bar G are attached the ends of a chain, H, one of the links of which is hooked upon the hook of a plate, I, which is pivoted to the beam A by the pin or bolt 1'. Several holes are formed in the plate I to receive the pin 73, so that it may be adjusted as may be required. By this construction, by adjusting the chain H upon the hook-plate I, the bars 0 G may be adjusted at any desired angle with the beam A, and will be held securely in place when adjusted.
