This invention relates to hand and other types of bag frames, and the invention is more particularly directed to an improved fastening device for securing such frames in Q closed relation and which is adapted to be released to permit the frames to be swung away from each other in the act of opening 'thebag.

*An object of the invention is to provide a 1 novel fastening device of the character described, which will be simple in construction and economical in manufacture, while possessing the advantages of being sturdy and providing for compactness, Another object of the invention is to provide a construction in which the parts are so fashioned andjarranged that the rail for operatively retaining the button slide will be concealed, and in which the button slide is mounted to slide directly on the top surface or face of the frame member to which it belongs.

' The invention is further characterized by a construction and arrangement of parts whereby, when the frames are closed-and secured in closed relation, the lnterlockmg members of the devicewill be entirely concealed from view. I

The combination of a pair of frame members adaptedto be moved into a position in which they are in closed relation, a top forming part of one member and having a channel therein, a rail in said channel, a button slide slidable along said top and carrying a retaining portion slidably embracing said rail, a projection on the second member which is received in said channel when the two members are moved into closed relation, to be maintained therein adjacent said rail, and

said slide retaining portion being adapted, when theslide is moved in one direction, to interlock with said projection whereby to secure the members in closed relation.
