IMPROVEMENT IN ORNAMEN'I'AL CHAINS.
Specication forming part of Letters Patent No. 181,438, dated August 22,1876; application iiled June 5, 1876.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JAMES L. HEELEY, of North Attleborough, county of Bristol, and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Chain-Links, which improvement is fully set forth in the follow-A ing specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, in Which- Figure l represents a longitudinal section of my improvement. Fig. 2 is a side view there- Similar letters indicate corresponding parts.
My improvement is especially adapted to links for ornamental chains; and it consists in two or more inner rings, placed side by side,
and interlaced with two outer rings, which ex rings, B B, which latter extend in opposite directions therefrom, as shown. Within the inner rings A is placed loosely a transverse ring, C, and this ring is so constructed that .each of the outer rings B B extends into it, and by this means the said transverse ring O is rmly held in position.
It may be remarked that the several rings A B O can be made alike, or different from each other, either in form or color.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination, in a chain-link, of' two or more inner rings, A, placed side by side, with two outer rings, B B, extending in opposite directions, and a transverse ring, G, extending through the inner rings, and forming a socket for the outer rings, the whole constructed and connected together substantially as described.
