declare that the following is a full, clear, and
exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specih'cation, and to the letters and figures ofy reference marked thereon.
Fgurel of the drawings is a representation of a side View of my pistol, part sectional, showing handle closed. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal vertical sectional viewof the handle as extended.
This invention consists in` a longitudinallyadjustable pistol-stock, and in a spring-catch -Tor securing said stock when so adjusted;
also, in -means for releasing said catch, as
hereinafter particularly described.
In the annexed drawings, A designates a pistol-barrel; B, a ramrod; O, a revolving chamber; D,ahan1mer; E, a trigger; and F ametal frame secured to breech (Jr. H is a hollow stock, which slides longitudinally over frame F; and I is a sleeve rigidly attached to breech, G', inside of which sleeve slides hollow stock H. Frame G hasthe outline of stock Il, but its sides are cut away, and the inside of its upper part is provided with a longitudinal series of notches, jj. K is aspring-catch, one end of which is secured to the inside of' stock H, while the other end engages with notches jj, so as to prevent stock H from be- 'spring-catch K and ing shoved forward over frame G and under sleeve I. L is a plunger, which works vertically in a perforation of stock H, and, when pressed down by the finger or thumb, depresse-s said spring-catch, so as to release the same from notches j j, and thereby allow the stock -to be forced forward. In this Way the stock may be made practically longer or shorter, as desired.
I have shown one series of devices for adjusting the length of my pistol-stock; butI do not desire to confine myself" thereto.. Any equivalent devices may be substituted for those shown without departing from the spirit of my invention. All that is essential thereto is the employment of devices for ,making a pistol-stock practically longer or shorter.
What I claim as new,.and desire to secure by Letters Patent, isr 1. A pistol provided with a longitudinallyextensible stock, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
2. The combination of framevG, stock H, and sleeve I, substantially as set forth.
3. The combination of frame Gr, notched at j j, with hollow stock H, provided with plunger I, substantially as set forth.
