a readily cause the discharge of a pistol by closing a simple electric circuit.
Another very important object of the invention resides in the provision of this nature which is exceedingly simple in its construction, compact in its arrangement of parts, thoroughly efiicient and reliable in use and operation, and otherwise well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed.
With the above and numerous other objects in view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in certain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a vertical longitudinal section through the apparatus embodying the features of my invention showing the door closed,
Figure 2 is a longitudinal horizontal section showing the door open,
Figure 3 is a vertical transverse section,
Figure 4 is an end elevation, and
Figure 5 is a fragmentary perspective view of a portion of the bottom of the box showing the lever thereon.
Referring to the drawings in detail it will be seen that the numeral 5 denotes a box open at one end. At the open end of the box there is a door 6 mounted on the bottom by means of spring hinges 7 which normally hold the door in an open position.
A leaf spring 8 is secured to the top of the box and tends to urge the door to an open position. An electric operated lock 9 holds the door in a closed ppsition and is in circuit 10 with the transformer and this transformer is in the circuit 12 leading to a convenient place for a suitable circuit closer so that the electric lock may be energized to release the door and allow the spring 8 to initially keep the same open and spring hinges 7 to continue to open the door.
In the box remote from the open end thereof there is anchored a pistol 14, the handle being secured to the rear end as at 15 and to the bottom as-at 16. The trigger guard 17 rests on the bottom. A lever 18 is rockably mounted intermediate its ends as at 19 on the bottom of the box 5 and has one end in position to actuate the trigger 2O of the pistol 14.
On the other end there is anchored as at 21 a chain 22 which is anchored as at 23 to the door 6 so that when the door 6 opensthe chain is madetaut and pulled so as to rock the lever 18 and cause it to swing the trigger 20 to fire the pistol.
From the above detailed description it will be seen that when the circuit 12 is closed the electric lock unlocks and the door flies open because of the springs 8 and spring hinges 7. The opening of the door pulls the chain which pulls the lever and the lever actuates the trigger and causes the shooting of the cartridge in the pistol.
Preferably a blank cartridge is used mainly to-distract momentarily attention of the man or men thereby giving the bank cashier or the like a chance to draw a gun.
It is thought that the construction, opera tion, utility and advantage of this invention will now be quite apparent to those skilled in this art Without a more detailed description thereof.
It is apparent that changes in the details of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages.
Having thus described my invention, What- I claim as new is:
1. In an apparatus of the class described, a box, a pistol anchored in the box, one end of the box being open, a door for said open end of the box, spring hinges for mounting the door and normally holding it in an open position, a lever rockable in the box and engageable with the trigger, a chain connecting the lever with the door so that when the door is open, the lever is rocked to actuate the trigger of the pistol.
2. In an apparatus of the class described, a box, a pistol anchored in the box, one end of the box being open, a door for said open '2 r w mums;
end of the box, spring hinges for mounting the door and normally holding it in an Open position, a lever rockable in the box and engageable with the trigger, a chain connecting the lever with the door so that when the 'door is open, the lever is rocked to actuate the trigger of the. istol, a, leaf sring impinging against the ree-end ofthe oor when i in a closed position to initially kick the same open.
3. In an apparatus of the class described,
a box, a pistol anchored in-the box, one end ofthe box being open, a door for saidopen end of the box, spring hin es for mounting;
the door and normally hol" in 'it in an open position, a lever rockable :in t e box and :en-
gageable with the trigger, a chain connecting the lever with the door so that when the door is open, the lever is rocked to actuate 2 the trigger ofthe ;pistol,.a leaf spring impinging against the freeend of the door when in a closed position to initially kick the same open, an, electrically operated lock for holding the door closed;
V In'testimon'y whereof I "afiix my signature .HENRYA. SHINE.
