IMPROVEMENT IN MEAL-BINS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent July 8,

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, DANIEL O. OLoUs, of Reading, in the county of Berks and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Bread-Molders (Jase; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.

Figure l of the drawings isa representation of a longitudinal vertical section of my mold-case, and Fig. 2 is a transverse vertical sectional view of the same.

This invention consists in a bread-molders case, provided with a 'hinged top and back, which, when turned down, forms a kneadingboard, as hereinafter particularly set forth.

In the annexed drawings, A represents a rectangular casing, which is divided by partition B into two compartments, 0 and I). The former is employed only to hold flour until it is needed for sifting; but compartnd'ent D contains a rotating reel, E, a sieve, F, arranged below and on both sides of said frame, and a drawer, G, which passes quite through said compartment D from front to back, and which may be withdrawn by pulling handles d at either end. Sieve F is hung from lugs f f, attached, respectively, to partition B and to the inside of the end wall of easing A. It is flexible, and accommodates itself to the movements of reel E, so that said frame at all times bears against it at several points. Said sieve divides compartment D into an upper space or portion, D which first receives the flour, and contains the rotating frame, and a lower space or portion, D Reel E is journaled in the front and rear of easing A, and is provided at both ends with prismatic tenons for receiving a detachable operating crank, Said reel or stirring-frame consists of a rotating shaft, E provided with radial arms 6 e, and longitudinal outer bars E E H is a supplemental back, hinged to the back of casing A, and provided with a hinged extension, H, which may be folded down to form the cover of easing A. Any ordinary detachable catch may be employed (a hook and eye,

When let down, so as to lie horizontal, the back H and extension II together constitute a kneading-board.

The operation is as follows: The flour is first taken from compartment 0 and poured into space D upon sieve F, and reel or stirrerframe E. Crank G is then turned so as to operate said reel, which stirs up the flour and forces it through said sieve. This is facilitated by the' pouch-like way in which the sieve bangs, and the curved or beveled outer face of the arms or bars E \Vhen two of said bars are extended obliquely downward, they strain the bottom of said sieve, so as to make it almost flat. The flour in passing through said sieve is freed from all impure and gross particles and foreign matter, and falls into drawer G, whence it is removed and deposited on the kneading-board H H.

Various modifications may be made without departing from the spirit of my invention. Thus, the drawer, sieve, and stirring-reel may be arranged lengthwise in the casing, instead of crosswise, in which case the drawer can only. be withdrawn from one end,and will need but one handle.

The reel is made detachable by employing sliding bearing-pieces or some equivalent device. The inside of compartment D should be provided with lugs d for guiding drawer G.

What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. Kneading-board H H, hinged to casing A, and adapted to form the top and back thereof, substantially as set forth.

2. A bread-molders case, having compartments 0 and D, reel E, sieve F, drawer G, and kneading-board H H, all constructed and used substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
