Description
' June 1931- L. FROMONT 9 ROLLER FOR WINDOW SHADES AND WINDOW SHADE STICKS Filed April 3. 1928 Patented June 9, 1931 UNITED STATES PATENT oFEieE LOUIS FBOMON'T, 0F BRUSSELS, BELGIUM ROLLER FOR WINDOW SHADES AND WINDOW SHADE STICKS Application filed April 3, 1928, Serial No. 267,045, and in Belgium April 19, 1927.
The present invention relates to a curtain roller and is intended to facilitate the centering of the pivot in the rod on which the curtain is to be rolled and its maintenance in the axis of the rod while it is being sunk therein. The results obtained by this invention are of greatest importance with reels having a sleeve of smaller diameter than the rod.
In the accompanying drawing, there is shown in diagrammatic perspective, and by way of example, one embodiment of my invention, certain parts having been broken away.
This drawing shows a rod 4 on which the curtain is to be rolled. On one end of this rod is fixed, for example by screws 4?), a sleeve 2a constituting a part of a reel. This reel also comprises a second sleeve 2 of smaller diameter than the rod 4. The cord 3 is wound on this second sleeve and is maintained on it by a radialfiange 20 at the outer end of the sleeve 2. The latter fits loosely on a pivot member 4a secured in the end or" the rod i. Moreover, it is connected to the first mentioned sleeve 211 by means of a web por-- tion 26. I t
The web portion 2?; is perforated at 31: and is dished so as to leave a free space beyond the end of said rod 4, wherein the knotted end 3% of the cord may rest.
Because the smaller sleeve 2 fits loosely on the pivot member 4a, it is easy to center the latter in the rod 4 and when it tends to sink obliquely in the rod, to correct its inclination so as to maintain it in the axis of the rod. The reel moreover may be easily removed from the rod after the pivot member 4a is sunk in the rod 4:, either to correct the inclination of the pivot member, or to facilitate the renewal of the cord 3.
It is obvious that the invention is susceptible to numerous modifications and adaptations without departing from the scope of the invention, and accordingly it is intended that the application be limitedonly V ber secured in the end of said rod, and a reel consisting of a sleeve engaged on the end of said rod, a second sleeve smaller in diameter than said rod, fitting loosely on said pivot member, and having a radial flange at its outer end and a portion connecting said smaller sleeve with said first-mentioned sleeve.
2. A curtain roller comprising a rod on which the curtain is to be rolled, and a reel consisting of a sleeve engaged on the end of said rod, a second sleeve smaller in diameter than said rod, and having aradial flange at its outer end, and a perforated web portion connecting said smaller sleeve with said first-mentioned sleeve and dished so as to leave a free space beyond the end of said rod c wherein the knotted end of an operating cord may rest.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature LOUIS FROMONT.
