IMPROVEMENT IN WATER-FENDERS FOR DOORS.
Specification forining part of Letters Patent No. 180,967, dated August 8, 1876; application filed June 12, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
. Be it known that I, ELLIOT L. .VALENTINE, of Oakalla, Iroquois county, Illinois, have invented a new and Improved Water Fender, of which the following is a specification:

My invention consists of a water conduit, made from sheet metal or other suitable material, to be attached to doors, windows, and other similar places to catch the water that drifts against them, and conduct .it outside the sill. The greater portion of the water that finds it way under doors first drifts against the .door, and then runs down to the lower edge and runs over the sill, or is forced in by the wind.
My invention is designed to obviate this difficulty by collecting the water which runs down the door, and conducting it over the sil A is a trough, which may be of any desired form, having its ends capped or stopped, and the back or part which attaches to the door higher than the front or outside. Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent A weather-strip consisting of the trough A, having capped ends, lip d, the back higher than the front, and the edge turned at b, as shown and described, for the purpose specified.
