REUBEN DOTY AND JOSEPH DOTY, OF WELLSVILLE, NEW YORK.
IMPROVEMENT IN WAGON-SPRING ATTACHMENTS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 180,854, dated August 8, 1876; application filed March 6, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we,-REUBEN DOTY and JOSEPH Do'rY, of Wellsville, in the county of Allegany and State of New York, have in- .vented a new and useful Improvement in Wagon-Spring Attachment, of which the following is a specification:
In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 represents a perspective view of our improved attachment to a wagon-spring, showing connection to body of wagon and Figs. 2 and 3 are, respectively, front and side views of the attachment.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
Our invention relates to an improved device for attaching the wagon-springs to the cross bars of the body, the same being made in one piece, and combining shackle and cap in a cheap, durable, and strong manner.
The invention consists of a combination of cap and shackle in one solid piece, to connect the front ends of the springs of a platform spring-wagon to the cross-bar.
In the drawing, A represents a solid casting of malleable iron-that is, made of top plates a, for being attached to the under side of the body of a platform spring-wagon, of an oblong band, b, for inclosing the end of the spring-bar or cross-piece, and of downwardextending lugs 61, that form the connectingsame and to the carriage-body; but the device is stronger and. more durable in every respect with the top plate in one piece with the lower part.
Having thus described our invention, what we claim as new, and. desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
An improved device for attaching springs to wagon-body, composed of a top plate, a cross-bar, encircling clip or band, and downward-extending lugs, to form shackles for springs, the whole made in one piece, substantially as specified.
