IMPRO'VEMENT IN BAG-HOLDERS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 180,826, dated August 8, 1876; application led June 3, 1876.

To all lwhom it may concern:

Be it known that I, EDWARD G. BATES, of Carthage, in the county of Jasper and State of Missouri, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Bag-Holders; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being rated leather straps secured to vertical stand.

In the drawings, A A designate standards, which support bag-holding devices, and which are provided with feet a. a, in order that they may rest more securely upon the ground. B is a bed-piece for supporting the bottom of the bag. On the inner sides of standards A A I secure vertical perforated straps O C, preferably constructed of leather, leaving the lower ends c c of said straps free from said standards. These ends c c catch into buckles D D, which are attached to said standards near the lower ends thereof. On said straps C C slide buckles EE, which are provided with short stiii' straps e e, from which project side horns F F, which are preferably constructed of wood, and which catch in the mouth of bag G, so as to hold the same open while suspending it.

By this means of suspension the bag is held in proper position without perforating or in any Way injuring it. By loosening buckles D D the device' may be adjusted to bags of any width, and by sliding buckles E E up or down the device may be adjusted to bags of any length.

Standards A A, bed-piece B, and feet a a may be made detachable, and standards A A are braced at their upper and lower ends by detachable hooked bars H H.

What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. In a bag-holder, the combination of standards A A, straps C C, buckles E E, and hooks F F, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.

2. The combination of standards A A, straps C (l, and buckles D D with means for suspending the bag, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
