Description

s. H; sf, E. Y. MOORE.
` ROLLERS FOR BARN-DOORS, &C. No.180,619. l Patented Aug'.1,18`76.
UNITED STATES PATENT EFICE SAMUEL H; MOORE AND EDWARD Y. MOORE, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
IMPROVEMENT IN ROLLERS FOR BARN-DOORS, &c.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 180,619, dated August 1, 1876 application filed July 12, 1876.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that We, SAMUEL H. MOORE and EDWARD Y. MOORE, of' Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements iii Barn-DoorRollers; and we do herebydeclare that the followingis a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled intheart to which it appertains to make and use the saine, reference being had to the accompanying' drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
The nature of our invention relates to an improvement upon our Patent No. 177,654, dated May 23, 1876 5 and consists in a wheel provided with a recess and hub, and a plate having a iange and hub, a series of rollers, and a screw and nut, as will be hereinafter more fully described and definitely claimed.
In the annexed drawing, Figure is a side View of our door-roller. Fig. 2 is a section of the same. Figs. 3, 4, and 5 are detached views of parts thereof. Fig. 6 shows our invention applied as a door-hanger.
A represents the wheel or roller, constructed with a circumferential groove, to play on a rail on the floor. The wheel A is, on one side, formed with an annular concentric recess, B, in the center of which is a projecting hub, O, made slightly tapering on its inner side. D represents a circular plate, provided with suitable screw-holes, to be fastened to the bottom of the door. On the outer side of this l plate is a circular concentric flange, E, and in ,the center is a conical solid hub, G, with a Screw, a, projecting through the center thereof. Within the iange E is placed a series of rollers, b b, Vot' such size as to leave sufficient room between them and the solid hub'G for the hollow hub C of the roller, the `iiange E Aot' the plate fitting within the recess B, as
shown fully in Fig. 2. When the parts are thus put together, a washer, H, is placed over the screw a, and a nut, d, screwed thereon to keep them together. This washer' has on its inner side a pinor lug, fr, which enters a hole in the end ofthe hub G, and prevents the Washer from turning.
It will be noticed that in this construction ot' door-rollers the hub of the wheel plays within the series or set of iron rollers. The same invention may be applied to door-hangers by simply substituting a strap, "I, t'or the circular back plate, as shown in Fig. 6.
Having thus fully described our invention, what' we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
lhe combination of the wheel A, provided with recess B and hub O, the plate D, or its equivalent, provided with iiange E and hub G, the rollers b b, screw a, washer H, and nut d, all substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
In testimony that we claim the foregoing as our ownwe aiiix our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
SAMUEL H. MOORE. EDWARD Y. MOORE. Witnesses:
V. MUMFORD MooEE, JOHN S. GREGoRY.
