Description

UNITED STATES PATENT FFIcEa LEMUEL H. DAVIS AND IRVIN AYUOCK, OF MORGAN, GEORGIA.
IMPROVEMENT iN PLow-sTocKs.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 180,556, dated August l, 1876 application filed y May 27., 1876.
To all whom 'it may concern Be it known that we, LEHUEL H. DAVIS and IRVIN AYCOGK, of Morgan, in the county of Calhoun and in the State of Georgia, have invented a new and Improved Plow-Stock, of which the following is a specification Figure l is a side view of our improved plow-stock. Fig. 2 is a top view ofthe same. Fig. 3 is a detail front View of the lower part of the standarchthc beam and brace being shown in section.
The object of this invention is tofurnish an improved iron plow-stock, simple in construction, strong, and durable, not being liable to break or get out of order. The invention consists in a plow stock formed of three iron bars, constructed and combined with each other, and with the handles, as hereinafter fully described.
A is the plow-beam, which is made of a bar of iron of suitable size, bent into suitable shape. The bealn A, at a little distance from its rear end, inelines downward and rearward, is bolted to the bar B, and extends downward parallel with the lower part of the bar B, and its lower end is bolted to the lower end ofthe said bar B, to form the lower part of the standard. The parallel parts of the bars B A have blocks D interposed between theparts, through -which the connecting-bolts pass, to form a space or slot between said parallel parts to receive the bolt that secures the plow-plate in place.' To the beam A, atfits forward angle, is bolted the forward end of the bar G, which extends back in line with the forward part ot' said beam, and its rear end is bolted to the bar B, and serves as a brace to the stock. The upper part of the bar B is split, and the parts or strips thus formed are bent outward, and to their ends are attached the handles E. The lower parts of the handles are bolted to the beams A and bar C at their point of intersection, or are bolted to straps which are bolted to said bars at said point.
By this constructionA a strong and serviceable plow-stock is produced, and one which is also simple in construction and neat in appearance.
Having thus described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Let` ters Patent, is-
rlhe combination of the curved beam A, branched bar B, and rear bar C with the handle E, all constructed and relatively arranged as herein set forth.
LEMUEL H. DAVIS. lltVlN AYGOGK.
