COMBINE D IMPLEMENT.

. desired form.
UNITED STATES PATENT LESTER BEACH, OF DERBY, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR To VICTORIA SIMPSON, on NEW YORK, N. Y.
IMPROVEMENT IN COMBINED IMPLEME NTS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 180,52l dated August 1, 1876; application filed April 4, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LESTER BEACH, of Derby, in thecounty of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented an Improvement in Combined Implements, of which the following is a specification:
Figure l is a plan view of my improved tool. Fig. 2 is a cross-section of the same, taken through the line or 00, Fig. 1, looking in the direction of the arrow.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The invention consists in a compound tool adaptedto several uses, as hereafter fully de-' scribed.
The body of the tool consists of two parallel bars, connected at their ends, and at suitable distances apart between said ends, by crossbars, so as'to make the tool light and at the same time strongj I prefer to make the bars square, and place them diagonally; but they may be made of any other desired form.
Upon one end of the tool is formed ascrewdriver, A. Upon one edge of the tool, near the screw-driver A, is formed a hammer-head, B; and upon the other edge, directly opposite the hammer B, or nearly so, is formed an icepick, 0, which I prefer to make pyramidshaped, but which may be made in any other To one of the cross-bars of the body of the tool are attached two small steel plates, D, arranged with their adjacent edges at an angle with each other, so that they may be used as a knife-sharpener. Upon the other end of the body of the tool is formed a notched projection or claw, E, which is so formed that it may be used for pulling tacks and for lifting stove-covers. Upon the edge of the body or the tool, diagonally opposite the ice-pick G, is formed a curved projection or finger, F, which may be used as a poker and as a pot-lifter, as may be required. At one end the space Gr, between the end cross-bar and the first intermediate cross-bar, is made slightly tapering, and the inner edges of the side bars are flattened, to adapt said space to be used as a wrench for turning various-sized nuts. Upon one or both the side bars of the tool are formed division-marks of inches and parts of an inch, to adapt the tool to be used as a rule, H.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is- 4 A tool formed of parallel bars H H, connected by cross-bars, and provided with screwdriver A. hammer B, ice-pick O, tack-puller E, pot-lifter F, sharpener D, and wrench G, placed as shown and described.
