Description
May 5, 1931. F. BOSCH 1,804,048
TIHEPIECB SERVING AS A WATCH OB TRAVELING CLOCK Filad Aug. 16, 1929 Patented May 5 1931 UNITED STATES FRITZ BOSCH, OF PFORZHEII I, GERMANY TIMEPIECE SERVING AS A were OR TRAVELING 01.00
Application filed August 16, 1929, Serial No. 386,297, and in Germany April 13, 1929.
This invention relates to a time-piece, which may be carried in the pocket, the glass and dial being well protected, or which may be placed on a table the dial in upright position.
The novelty consists in that the watch case proper is oscillatably mounted on the lid of a casing and controlled by springs in such a manner that it can oscillate from said receptacle in upward direction and stand upright in the same.
An embodiment of the invention is illustrated by way of example in the accompanying drawings in which Fig. 1 shows the casing with watch in upright position in side elevation, partly in section.
Fig. 2 is a section on line 22 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 shows in side elevation the watch in the position for winding.
F ig. 4 shows the casing in side elevation, partly in section the watch accommodated in the casing which is closed.
Fig. 5 is a top plan View of Fig. 4 partly in section on line 55.
In the side walls a, a of a casing b a lid 6 is hingedly mounted by means of two hinge bolts 0. On the inner surface of the lid c the watch case proper d is fixed by a hinge f, said elements e and d being secured against mutual oscillation, as the hinge f is spring controlled.
The watch case (Z has to be brought for winding'into the position shown in Fig. 3, so that the knob is easily accessible. After the winding the watch case J is automatically lowered against the inner surface of the lid 6 and secured in this position by the spring-controlled hinge The lid 0 of the casing and therefore also the watch case 0! is further controlled by a spring h in the casing having the tendency to oscillate the lid 6 with the watch case d into the position shown in Fig. 1, so that the dial is visible. In this position the time-piece can serve as traveling clock, as the casing 1) serves as foot for the Watch.
In the position, shown in Figs. 4 and 5 the time-piece can be carried in the pocket or in a suit-case or the like without danger of getting damaged as the watch case 03 is accomand counter hooks 7c of the casing.
modated in the casing 6, covered by the lid 6 and held in this position by hooks i of the lid These counter hooks 7c form the ends of the arms of a bow Z shiftably mounted in the casing b. This bow Z is adapted to be shifted in the casing by means of a push button m and guided in flaps w. of the side walls a of the casing Z). The push button on projects through a slot 7) of the casing b, and it has a resilient wire 0 mounted in a sleeve 0 and bearing with its end on said how Z.
When a pressure is exerted upon the push button m in the direction of the arrow A (Fig. l) the bow Z and through the same the counter hooks 7c are shifted inward, whereby the hooks c' are liberated, the lid e with the watch case 05 being suddenly oscillated upward to adopt the position shown in Fig. 1.
lVhen the lid 6 with the watch is lowered, the hooks 2' engage under the hooks is so that the lid is secured in the shut position.
I claim 1. A time-piece adapted to serve as watch or traveling clock, comprising in combination a casing, a lid hingedly mounted in said casing, a watch case fixed by a hinge on the inner surface of said lid, a spring controlling said hinge to hold said watch case lying against said lid, means for securing said lid in the shut position, means for releasing said lid, and a spring for automatically bringing said lid with said watch case into the upright position.
2. A time-piece adapted to serve as watch or traveling clock, comprising in combination a casing, a lid hingedly mounted in said casing, a watch case fixed by a hinge on the inner surface of said lid, a spring controlling said hinge to hold said watch case lying against said lid, two hooks on said lid, two counter hooks shiftable in said casing to cooperate with said lid hooks, means for releasing said lid, and a spring for automatically bringing said lid with said watch-case into the upright position.
3. A time-piece adapted to serve as watch or traveling clock, comprising in combination a casing, a lid hingedly mounted in said casing, a watch case fixed by a hinge on the In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
FRITZ BOSCH.
