This invention relates to improvements in awning holders or fixtures adapted to detach ably support a top awning rod, and associated pulley-blocks through which ropes for the operation of the awning are strung.

An object of the invention is to generally improve upon holders of this type by simplifying their construction and particularly in providing a three piece holder whereby an awning rod can be properly supported and clamped in position by means of a wing nut that forms a non-detachable part of the holder.

Another object of the invention is to provide a fixture of this character which will'not alone support the awning rod, with the awning fabric extending about the same, but includes means for the attachment of pulleyblocks for operating the awning and to so arrange the said means with respect to the head rod of the awning so that the pulley-blocks cannot be detached from the holder without first loosening the thumb screw, its clamp and the awning rod.

Further to generally design the several parts so as to permit of the ready and convenient attachment and detachment of the awning rods and pulley-blocks by the releasement of the thumb screw, as in the act of putting up or taking down the awning.

With these and other objects in view, the invention resides and consists in the construction and novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described,

illustrated in the accompanying drawings,

and pointed out in the claim hereto appended, it being understood that various changes in the form, proportion, size, and minor details of construction within the scope of 0 the claim may be resorted to without departure from the spirit, or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.

awning rod holderincludes, generally speaking, an attachable bracket or body designated as 6 having one or more screwholes 7 through its upper portion for fasteningthe same in place on a building, as for instance along the upper or top portion of a window frame, there being two or more of these holders employed in alignment, for the support of the upper or head rod of an awning frame.

The body is further provided with a threaded hole 8 that extends through from the front side into a recess 9 formed in the rear of the body, said threaded hole serving to accommodate a thumb screw 10 used for clamping the head rod 11 in position. The inner end 12 of this screw extends into the before mentioned pocket 9 and is headed, as shown, to permit and limit the amount of outward turning movement of the screw and prevent its detachment from the body, thus preventing it from dropping off and becom ing lost. The body further includes a trans-. verse pocket 13 having a circular wall adapted to receive the before mentioned awning head rod 11.

A clamping plate 14, having a hole therethrough to receive the screw 10, is mounted on the screw and has a depending extension 14: that normally hangs down as by gravity across the face of the rod 11, though adapted to be swung to either side and up out of the way of the rod by engagement of its finger portion 15. This clamping plate is also provided with a concaved face 16 adapted for engagement with the round surface of the rod or awning covering the said rod, in a way to hold the same tightly within the pocket when clamped by means of. the thumb screw.

The body of the holder further includes one or more extended hook members 18 whose free ends are returned and disposed upward beneath the rod 11 and in sufliciently close proximity thereto as to pre- Vent the detachment of the blocks 19 when the rod 11 is secured. as shown in Fig. 1.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

An awning holder of the class described, comprising a body portion having screw holes for its attachment to a building, a threaded hole therein and a recess intersecting said hole, a pocket to receive a rod to be clamped, a thumb screw mounted in the hole and having its end extended into the recess and headed, a plate mounted upon the screw and having an extended iip portion to engage and clamp the rod by the tightening of the screw and a finger piece by means of which the plate may be swung to one side for the removal of the rod, said body portion including one or more hooks projected from its underside and having its end disposed beneath and in close proximity to a rod when positioned in the pocket.
