Our invention relates to display devices and has for its object to provide a device including a case with a window therein along which an endless display member may be continuously moved.
Another object of the invention resides in forming said case with an opening and in providing a closure for said opening, said closure supporting said window.
A still further objectof the invention resides in detachably mounting within said case a reflector having a light source therein, said reflector being removable from said case through said opening. 4
Astill further object of the invention resides in attaching a roller to said reflector and in attaching a second roller to said case, said endless member passing between said rollers, and in further providing resilient means for 20 holding said rollers in contact with said endless display member.
A feature of the invention resides in providing a motor and reduction gearing operated thereby, said gearing being arranged to drive one of said rollers to move the display member along said window, said gearing permitting the moving of said reflector, display member and one of said rollers through said opening for the purpose of changingdisplay members.
Another feature of the invention resides in providing a U-shaped support to said motor and reduction gearing, said support being attached to said case and carrying said second roller.
With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear in the following description, the invention resides in the novel combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed. 7
In the drawings:
Fig. 1 is a front elevational view of a dis play device illustrating an embodiment of our invention.
Fig. 2 is a sectional of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view taken on line 33 of Fig. 2. p
i Fig. 4 is a fragmentary sectional view of View taken on line 22 thereduction gearing taken on line 4-4 of Fig. 3 and drawn to an enlarged scale.
Fig. 5 is a sectional view taken on line 5-5 of Fig. 4.
Fig. 6 is a fragmentary detailed view of a portion of the supporting frame work illustrating the method of attaching the reflector thereto.
Our invention is enclosed within a case A which comprises a back 10, sides 11 and 12, a bottom 13 and a top 14. This case is opened at the front as indicated at 17 except for cross pieces 15 and 16. The opening 17 is adapted to be closed by means of a closure 18 which is constructed With a window 19 occupyinga prominent portion of the same. The. cl0- sure 18 is preferably hinged to the side wall 11, case A, by means of hinges'20 so that the same may be swung outwardly from the case to give access to the interior thereof through the opening 17. If desired, a lock and key of ordinary construction may be employed to hold the closure 18 in closed position, or any other suitable fastening device may be utilized.
\Vithin the interiorof the case A is mounted a support which comprises a U-shaped frame member 21 having longitudinal portions 22 and 23 connected by. a transverse portion 24. This frame member is disposed near the upper portion of the ease and theframe portions 22 and 23 are preferably recessed in the side walls 11. and 12. At the forward edges of the walls 11 and 12 are arranged vertical frame members 25 and 26 which are attached to the frame member 21 by means of screws 27 These frame members are constructed with bayonet slots 28 as shown in detail in Fig. 6 which serve to support the reflector and guiding means for the display proper.
WVithin the case A is disposed a reflector 29 which is constructed with parallel side walls 30 and 31 connected by sloping rear walls 32 and 33 and a back 34. This reflector is formed with an opening at the front which is adapted to be closed'by a pane of glass 132 supported in U-shaped guides 33 attached to the side walls 30 and 31 of said reflector. At the upper ends of these walls are attached small castings as by means of screws 35,

, f has attached 7 to I teeth of the two gears 81 and 82 are brought into mesh and roller 47 through spring 51 is brought into contact with roller 44 hearing against the display member so as to effect a driving connection between said display member and said roll. The machine is then started in operation and the display member guided over the roll 42 until all of the lowermost portions of same have been fed into the space 41 of case A. WVhen this occurs, the closure 18 may be shut and the device will continue to operate incessantly, successively showing various displays upon said display member.
The invention is exceedingly simple and effective in operation and will not readily get out of order. An extremely long display may be utilized with a relatively small case so that a suflicient amount of display matter may be displayed. New display members may be quickly and continuously inserted in the machine by simply removing the reflector and associated parts without the necessity of threading the same into the device after the parts are in place. All splicing of the display member may be accomplished outside of the device so that continuity of the dis play member and smoothness of operation and lack of interruption res lt. All of the high speed reduction gears are enclosed with in a single case which may be readily packed with grease so as to practically require no attention.
