stick by securing a string at one end of the stick underneath a splinter of the conven 1 tional tobacco stick now used and wrapping a string around a bunch of tobacco on one side of the stick and then crossing the stick to the other side and wrapping a string around a bunch of tobacco on the other side of the stick and continuing until the stick has been filled with a bunch of tobacco and then securing the end of the string in position at the end of the stick. This has been done heretofore largely in using the ordinary wooden stick and fastening the twine used to bind the tobacco onto the stick underneath splinters and other obstructions 0n the stick.
It is an object of my invention to provide a metallic stick with means for securing the twine at each end of the stick and in providing a stick which is reinforced and strong. I eliminate any fire hazard due to the possibility of a stick breaking and allowing the tobacco to fall down into the bot tom of the curing barn for sometimes it falls on heated flues and becomes ignited and the barn is destroyed.
Another object of my invention is to provide a tobacco stick made of metal and which is reinforced to prevent its bending and to give the proper strength thereto and at the same time to be practically indestructible and capable of long life and usefulness.

Referring moreparticularly to the drawings the numeral 10 indicates the tobacco stick as a whole and this is formed by turning the portions 11 and'12 inwardly to-rein force th'e'stick'and 'then after turningthe portions 11 and 12 inwardly to'bend the stick along the line-13'which becomes the top 1301? tion of the stick as-shown' in-Figure 5. During the operation of manufacturing the stick and preferably at the timethe'pieces are cut and before folding, the V-shape'd slots '15 and l6wil1-be cutin opposite side portions in opposite ends of the stick, it being evident that the twine for securing the tobacco on the stick can be secured in the notch 15 and at the end of the wrapping operation the other end of the twine can be secured in the notch 16 merely by tying a knot in the end of the twine.
If desired I can provide the tongue 17 instead of the notches 15 and 16 and the twine can be wrapped around this tongue.
After the stick has been folded along the edges as shown in Figure 3 it is then bent in the middle along line 13 and provides an inverted V-shaped member which is inverted V-shaped in cross-section as shown in'Figure 5 and the shape of the stick and the rein forcement given to it by the bending of the same and also by the over-lapping edgesll and 12 provides a strongstick which will not bend unduly and which will support the required amount of weight which it will be accustomed to bear. The strength of the stickcan be regulated by the thickness of the metal out of which it is made which is preferably sheet metal and if made out of galvanized sheet metal will be practically indestructible on account of rust not taking efli'ect on the same. Also the width of the overlapping edges 11 and 12 can be increased to give further strength to thestick if desired.
In the drawings and specification I have set forth a preferred embodiment of my invention, and although specific terms are employed, they are used in a generic and descriptive sense only, and not for purposes of limitation, the scope of the invention being set forth in the appended claims.
I claim:
1. A tobacco stick formed of sheet metal and being over-lapped at its edges and bent into an inverted V-shape in cross-section and having a notch in each end thereof.
2. A tobacco stick composed of sheet metal, said tobacco stick comprising reinforced edge portions, and being bent into a shape which is an inverted V-shape in cross-section, notches in each end of the tobacco stick for securing a twine therein.
3. A tobacco stick made of sheet meta and comprising over-lapped edge portions,
said tobacco stick being bent with one side portion at approximately a right angle to the other side portion and forming an inverted V-shaped member in cross-section with notches in each end of the stick for securing twine therein.
4. A tobacco stick made of sheet metal and being doubled along its edge portions to provide reinforcement and being bent along its central portion to provide'a member which isan inverted V-shape in cross-section and means on each end of the member for securing a twine therein.
