IMPROVEMENT IN SHOE-EXHIBITING DEVICES.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 179,674. dated July 11, 1876 application filed June 23, 1876.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, WILLIAM U. BELSHE, a resident of Macon City, in the county of Macon and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Devices for Exhibiting Shoes, &c.; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

The object of my invention is to produce a device by which shoes and other similar articles can be readily andeasily exhibited in stores and other places.

The invention consists in a. wire bent in such a: manner as to form two hooked ends, connected by a transverse partwhich passes around the back end of the shoe, &c., the whole made of a single piece of wire. The hooked ends are placed over the edge of the drawers or boxes containing the shoes or similar articles, or may be placed over bars ar-' ranged in the show-windows or show-cases. One of the ends is passed through the eyelets, while the other end passes around the rear end of the shoe.

In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 represents the device attached to the upper end of a shoe, B, ready for hanging up. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the device.

In the drawing, A represents the device,

made of any suitable wire, the ends of which are bent to form hooks, as shown at b b, the intermediate bar or portion 0 being bent, as shown at (I, so as to form a slot, in which the rear portion of the shoe is inserted, while the forward end, which is passed through the eyelet, is bent to form a stop, as shown at e.

The ends-b I) are placed over the edges of the drawers, boxes, or over bars in show windows or cases, the front hook is passed through an eyelet or lace hole, and the rear portion of the shoe is inserted in the slot f, and the shoes are thus suspended in a ready and easy manner for exhibition, instead 01'', as is now the case, by strings, 85c.

The advantages of my-device are, that it can be very easily and quickly applied to shoes and other similar articles. It is very cheap, and can be manufactured very quickly.

Having tlms described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The improved boot and shoe holder, consisting of the bent wire A, provided with the books I) b, bar 0, stop e, and slotf, constructed substantially as and for the purpose specified.
