invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in shoe pulls.
The object of the invention is to provide a device of this character adapted to be quickly attached to and detached from a shoe to aid in pulling the same on, thereby dispensing with the unsightly straps or loops which are usually applied to shoes for this purpose.
\Vith the above and other objects in view, the invention consists of certain noveltezr tures of construction, combination and arrangen'icnt of parts as will be hereinafter described and claimed.
In the acconipanying drawings, Figure l is a detail perspective view of the device to in the shoe uppers, and alter being used moved from the shoe; Fig. 2 is a detail view of the upper. portion of the .shoe showing the arrangement of the eyelets secured therein to receive the ends of the pull.
Referring 1110).(3 particularly to the drawings, 1 denotes the pull, which is hcreshouni and is preferably "formed of a single piece of wire rod bent midway between its ends to form a loop or handle portion 2, which is preferably elongated, as shown. After forming the loop,-2, the wire is bent to form diverging arms or bars, 3, which may be oi" any desired length. A cover or casing 7 of leather or other flexible material 1.5 applied thereto and the ends or books 5, are
loentv at right angles and turned at an oblique angle to the body of the pull to itorippshoe engaging l100l (S. \\'lll(-5lt, when the device is in use, at adaplcd to be engaged with cyelets, (3, arranged in the shoe adjacent to the upper edge of the same, as shown.
in applying the pull to the shoe, the arms or bars, 3, are pressed together a suitable distance to engage the hooked ends, 5 with the eyelets, (3, after which the arms or bars 3 are released. The pull will be held in engagement with the eyelets by the spring ac tion of the arms or bars, 3, as will be understood.
i i I i i l i l l l i ii hile the device herein shown as being applied to an open-front shoe. it. is obvious that the same may be ttSetl in connection with. any form of shoe or boot to assist in i'lrawing the same on. and when used in connection with low quarter shoes, the necessity of a shoe horn will be obviated. When the device is used in connection with. Congress gaitcrs or sinnlar .t'orins of shoes, one of the pulls will be applied to the front and another to the rear of the same, thus taking the plat-c ot the front or rear straps or loops usually secured to this t'orin of shoe, and when used in connection with boots one of the devices will be applied to each side of the boot top and engaged with eyelets provided ihcrel'or. When cngz'in'ed with opcn lroni shoes. th device serves 'to hold the trout opt-n. thereby 'l'aoilitating the engagement of the loot therewith.
The pulls i may be l'orinod in any desired, lengths and will no 'l'ound to bo ol great assistant-o to aged people. or persons unable to stoop in aiding them to put on their shoes. The pulls are so constructed that they may be quickly engaged with the t \'t lots provided tor the reception ol the same may be quickly disengaged l'roni the shoe.
l roni the foregoing dcsrriplion. talccn in connection with the accompanying drawing, the construction and operation ol the invcntion will be readily understood'without. re- (piiringa more extended explanation.
Various changes in tho l tll'lll, proportion and the minor details oi construction may be resorted to without departing from the principle or sacrificing any of the advan tages oi" this invt-i'uion 'as delincd by thi appended claim. llaving thus described my invention. what i claim as new and desire to secure by Letlcrs lalenl, is:
i l shoe pull comprising a handle portion,
diverging spring arms, shoecngaging hooks iiitnes 5" Jan as W. llnwi-ts, Janus W. lloinnrrsoia.
