IMPROVEMENT IN BOBBlN-SUPPORTERS OF SPOOLING-MACHINES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 179,672, dated July 11, 1876; application led April 131s76.
To all 'whom it may concern Be it known that I, NIcHoLEs I. ALLEN, of Hopedale, of the county otw'orcester and State of Massachusetts, have invented anew and useful In'iprovelnent in BobbiirSupport` ers ot' Machines for Spooling Yarn; and do hereby declare the same to be fully described in the following specification, and represented in the accompanying drawings, of which- Figurel` denotes a side elevation, and Fig. '2 a longitudinal section, of a bobbin-supporter with my improvement. ofthe bobbin-rest.
My invention consists in the bobbin-rest as constructed with, or having, a series of grooves, ribs', or slots arranged in it obliquely to its axis or that of revolution of the bobbin, such additions being to keep the bobbin, while in revolution, back upon its rest, and also to remove from the yarn-load metes or extraneous matters, or excrescences incident thereto, or that may be collected therein or thereon.V
In the drawings, A represents a bobbin-supporter of the kind now in use in spo0ling-ma-- chines, its bobbin-rest being shown ata, gooseneck at b, and pendulous lips at c c. The series of oblique slots of the said bobbinrest is Fig. 3 is atop view represented at d d, Sto. In the place of such slots, grooves or ribs may be used; but, although they answer to keep the bobbin from slipping forward on its rest, and to remove inotes or extraneous matters from the yarn- 'load of the bobbin while it may be inrevolution, they will not discharge such matters from the said rest so ei'ectually as will the slots, which, consequently, are preferable.
Fig. 4 of the drawings represents a top view, and Fig. 5 a longitudinal section, of the yarnrestas provided with oblique grooves instead of slots. Fig. 6 shows a top View, and Fig. 7 a longitudinal section, ot' a yarn-rest as havingl oblique ribs instead ot' slots.
I therefore claim- As my improvement in the spooling-inachine bobliin-supporters, the bobbin-rest thereof as inade or provided with slots, ribs, or grooves, arranged obliqnely with respect to its upper surface, all substantially as and for the purpose or objects specilied.
