IMPROVEMENT .IN LOOM-PICKERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 177,641, dated May 23, 1876; application filed March 10, 1876.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that 1, ALBERT HOLBROOK, of the city and county ofProvidence, of the State of Rhode Island, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Rawhide Pickers for Looms; and do hereby declare the same to be fully described in the following specification and represented in the accompanying drawings, of which- Figure l is an end view, and Fig. 2 a side elevation, of a picker with my improvement. Fig. 3 is an end view, and Fig. a an under-side View, of the heart-piece or plug of said picker.
Heretofore, in the manufacture of such pickers, the said heart-piece or plug has been a roll, cylinder, or frustum of a cone, which, when inserted in the body of the picker, wrapped around it, required a separate triangular prism of rawhide to be also fixed in said body directly underneath and against the said plug.
Having found that such prism is liable to work loose in practice, and as a consequence to render the plug liable to become loose or spread too much under the action of the nose of a shuttle, I now construct the plug with a triangular fillet extending from itslower side, and being in one piece with the rest of said plug, all being as represented, in Which A denotes the plug, a the said fillet, and B the body of the picker.
