This invention relates to improvements in halters and has for its primary object the provision of an adjustable halter adapted to lit a cow or horse, and is of simple construction, permitting quickly and easily placing the halter upon a horse or cow head and as readily removed therefrom, strong, inexpensive, durable and otherwise well adapted to the purpose designed.

Other objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent during a study of the following description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, wherein:

Vith reference more in detail to the drawings it will be seen that the horses head is designated generally by the reference character 5. The preferred embodiment of my invention as herein illustrated consists of a nose strap 6 being in the nature of an endless strap and is thereby especially designed for insuring strength and durability. As illustrated the nose strap 6 is adapted to be passed through a pair of rings 7 and 8 re spectively. A chin strap 9 is looped or bent upon itself as illustrated to receive the rings 7 and 8 and is provided in its length with suitably spaced openings 10 to receive the tongue'of the buckle 11 to permit said strap to be readily lengthened or shortened when desired, so as to fit the horses or cows head according to the various sizes of the head. 12 and 13 have their intermediate portions stitched together so as to render the said straps sufiiciently strong to withstand the usage to which straps for this purpose are subjected.

It is also to be noted that the stitching of the intermediate portions of the respective straps form loops which receive the rings 7 and 8 respectively at the lower ends of the straps and additional loops at the upper ends of the straps adapted to receive the rings 14, which rings are in turn connected through the medium of a head strap 15 as illustrated. The head strap 15 is looped or bent upon itself to receive the said rings 14-44 and as 1n the case of the chin strap it is provided throughout a portion of its length with suitably spaced openings 16 for engagement with the tongue of the buckle 17, which is secured upon one end of the strap, thus permittiing the lengthening of the strap as desire A movable ring 18 is movably mounted upon the chin strap 9 and the strap 19 constituting the throat latch is looped or bent upon itself as illustrated to receive one of the rings 14, and as illustrated the throat latch strap 19 is doubled through the ring 18 and has sliclable thereon a snap hook 20, engageable with the other of the said rings 14 to hold the latch strap in operative position. Adjacent one end of course the strap is provided with suitable spaced apertures formed thereon for engagement with the tongue of a buckle 21, in the usual manner. Thus it is to be noted that the latch strap is also adjustable. i

Frame members 22 have the throat latch strap 19 threaded therethrough respectively and these frame members are adapted to be adjustably disposed with res ect to the strap 19 adjacent those portions 0 the strap adjacent the buckle 14. For the sake of clearness, it may be well to mention that these adjustable frame members 22 comprise a substantially rectangular body including spaced parallel side bars, and end bars connecting the side bars and between which side bars is a longitudinal bar having an upwardly extending pin or stud, receivable in suitable openings formed in the strap 19, for maintaining the frame in an adjusted position upon the strap.

A jaw strap 23 is provided at opposite ends with loops 24, to receive the looped extensions 25, formed on each of said frames 22. Thus it will be seen that the jaw strap 23 may be moved lengthwise at its 0p osite end of the strap 19, the jaw strap thus ing moved up or down with respect to the jaw of the animal to which the halter may be placed to snugly extend about the jaw of the animals. My improved halter is exceedingly strong and durable, may be readily manufactured at slight cost, is very serviceable and may be readily adjusted and also easily put on or taken off from the head of a horse or cow or other animal, wherein a halter of this nature may prove useful for purposes obvious to the user. 7 7

Even though I have herein shown and described, the preferred embodiment of my invention, it is to be understoodthat the same is susceptible to certain changes fully comprehended by the spirit of the invention andithe scope of the appended claims.

What is claimed is: I p

1. In a halter of the class described, a nose strap, cheek straps, rings connecting the nose strap and the cheek straps, a head strap, rings connecting the head strap and the cheek straps,- a chin strap connected to the first mentioned rings, a ring movable on the chin strap, athroat latch formed of. a single strap connected to the second mentioned rings and passing through said movable ring, a jaw strap, and means connecting the jaw strap with the throat latch, said connecting means being slidable on said throat latch.
