IMPROVEMENT IN LA MP-WICK TRIMMERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 179,504, dated July 4, 1876; application filed J une 12, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN BANNIHR, or Hempstead, Queens county, New York, have invented a new and Improved Lamp-Wick Trimmer, of which the following is a specification My invention consists of shear-cutterscontrived to cut alike and at the same time from both edges of the wick to the center, whereby the wick is trimmed better and more uniformly than when out across from one edge to the other, the action being such that the wick is not forced away from the cutters and cut irregularly, as is the case with the common cutters; and it also consists of a gage in combination with the cutters by which the trimmer can be steadied on the burner, and the wick can be trimmed a certain definite length above the burner.

H is a spring for opening the cutters. When the ring-base is not used, the levers may be pivoted together at the ends for a fulcrum.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. The bow-shaped cutters A, having angleedges, and being pivoted together at the ends, in combination with levers D-pivoted to them at the middle, and also pivoted to a fulcrum, E, substantially as specified.
2. The ring-base O, in combination with cutters A and levers D, substantially as specified.
