THOMAS H. STARTZMAN, OF TIFFIN, OHIO.
IMPROVEMENT IN SOAP COMPOUNDS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 179,366, dated J 11110 27, 1876; application filed October 4, 1675.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, THOMAS H. STARTZMAN, of Tiffin, in the county of Seneca and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Soap Compound, which is fully described in the following specification.
This invention relates to that class of compounds called soappowder, used for washing clothes, &c.; and it consists in a composition formed by mixing together the following ingredients, in the manner and of the proportions as hereinafter set forth.
the alum, borax, and sal-soda. The whole is then well stirred until dissolved, and then turned out into a vat and stirred until it is cold, When it is allowed to stand twenty-four hours. It is then placed again in the boiler, and as it melts the ammonia and alcohol are added, and the whole allowed to boil thirty minutes, stirring all the time. It is then turned out into the vat, and the stirring process continued until the whole mass is cold.
Having thus described my invention, What I claim is Y The hereinbefore-described soap compound, consisting of rain'water, alcohol, alum, aquaammonia, chemical soap, as herein specified, borax, and sal-soda, mixed in the proportions substantially as set forth and described.
