IMPROVEMENT IN LINIMENTS FOR RHEUMATISM.
Specification forming part of'Letters Patent No. 179,358, dated June 27, 1876; application filed May 1, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, CLINTON SHANE and JAMES KEARNEY, both 0f the city and comb ty of San Francisco and State of California, have invented an Improved Medical Compound; and we do hereby declare the following description sufficient to enable any person skilled in the art or science to which it most nearly appertaius to make and use our said invention without further invention or experiment.
()ur invention or discovery relates to an improved medical compound or liniment for the cure of rheumatism, gout, and similar inflammatory bone diseases.
To make our improved compound or rheuniatie remedy, we use the following-named ingredients, in the proportions given, to wit:
One (1) pint alcohol; one (1) pint turpentine; one (1) ounce spirits eamphor; one (1) ounce saltpeter; one-half ounce blue vitriol; two (2) ounces spirits hartshorn; two (2) ounces tincture myrrh one-fourth (2;) ounce oil of hemlock. These ingredients we mix together in a simple manner, and place the resulting solution or liniment in a bottle for use.
