This invention relates to a suspension device designed primarily for use for suspending trousers and skirts from garment hangers, but it is to be understood that asuspension device, in accordance with this invention may be employed in any connection forwhich it maybe found applicable, and the invention has for its object to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, a device are folded upon them 'selves' 'and supported in suspending positiorr'on the hanger bar of the hangen I A further object of the invention is to provide,-'in-ja manner as hereinafter set'forth, a suspension device capab-le of'being detachably *connected with one end of a pairof trousers and with a garment hanger or other support for the purpose of suspending-the trousers lengthwise, thereby overcoming ,cross'creasing of the trousers as is now the case'when the latter-are suspended from a garment hanger. i

, Figure 4 is an elevation of a modified form of suspension device in accordance with this invention} 2 Although the suspension device is designed I primarilyfor suspending trousers to prevent the cross creasing thereof, however it is to i be understood thatit canfbe employed for suspending any form'of objects capable of beingconnected"tofeither end of the-device,
The device as lllust-rated'm position for suspending a pair of trousers and also a globular In the 7' d'r'awing, 1 indicates a garment hanger in the-tormota substantially, triangular shaped frame having extended from the topthereof a hook 2', The frame includes a-top portion 3' which depends from the hook 2, a pair ofoppositelyextending sideportions 4,15 which extend ata downward inclin'ation with respect to the top '-portion=3, and a bottom portion 6 whichis horizontally disposed and connects-the side portions-4, 5 together The bottom portion 6 provides-a suspension bar of the hanger and generally,
whensuspendinga pairiof trousers from the hanger, the trousers arejfolded upon themselves 'and extended over the bottom portion 6 ,1-andfthe' latter supports the trousers from the bends between thefolds. If the trousers are suspendedffor'anylength of time a bend or'crosscreaseis formed at the knee portion thereof, whi'ch is objectionable, and ifthecrease is verymarked it'necessitates the'pressing of the trousers again. 1 j l 'Referringgto Figures 1', sands of the drawings, a suspension device in accordance with this invention comprises a hook part 7 7 provided with an inwardly curved bill 8 and a shank 9.,havi'ng aninclined portion termi netting atone end into, a semi-circular portron which merges into thebill 8. The. other terminates in a resilientcoupling part 10 formed of a pair of oppositely inclined side portions 11, 12, a curved coupling portion 13- connecting outer ends of the side portions 11, 12 together and an outwardly extending, inclined, lateral extension or finger portion 13 into which merges the inner end of the side portion 12. The shankQ merges into the side portion 11. The side portions 11, 12 extend from the coupling portion 13 toward each other to form, in connection with the latter a loop 15 which is open at the point of mergence of the shank 9 with the side portion 11. The loop 15 gradually increases in width from its open end 16 to the coupling portion 18. The bill 8 of the hook part 7 is tapered toward its free end and thelatter opposes and is arrangedin spaced relation with respect to the finger or thumb portion 14. A part of the inclined portion of the shank 9, the curved portion of the latter and bill 8 form a split loop of materially greaterwidth than the loop 15. The loops open towards and are spaced from each other by the inclined portion of shank 9. i v e As illustratedin Figure 1,:a pair of trousers 17 is suspended lengthwise, by a pair of suspension devices in accordance with this invention, from the side portions 4, 5 of the frame of the hanger. The hook part 7 of each suspension device is extended through.
the waist band 18 of the trousers 17, but the apertures formed by the hook parts 7 are verysmall and do not mar the appearance of thetrousers when they are removed from said hookparts. The holder parts 10 of the suspension devices as shown in Figure 1 are mountedupon the side portions 4, '5 of the frame of the hanger, The finger or thumb pieces '14 facilitatel the positioning of 'the suspension device upon the side portions 4, 5. As the holder parts 10 are resilient, they bindagainst the portions 4, 5 of the frameof thehanger. i
Figure 3 of the drawing discloses the hanger device as suspending a globular ele'- ment 19 and which is provided with an eye 20 to receive the holder part 10 0f the device, and-the-objector article 19-is suspended from said holder part. The hook part7 isconnected to any suitable-support for the purpose of suspending thedevice in position for the purpose of .suspendingly supporting the objector-article 19 fromthe holder parts 10.
The modified form shown in Eigure 4-in c-ludesahook'part '21 ofthe same as the hook part 7 shown in Figure The device shown in Figure 4 includes a holder part 22which is oippositely disposed with respect "to a holder part 10. The shank 23 of hook part 7 terminates;i-n the side portion 249i the holder part 22 and said side portion24 is-angularly-disposed with respectto the rear In the form shown in Figure 4, the finger or thumb portion 26 is not arranged in op,- posed spaced relation with respect to the bill 28 of hook part 21, but opposes the inclined shank 23 on the outer side of the latter. The side portions 24, and coupling portion 27 form a loop 29 open at its lower end as at 30 and gradually decreasing in width from such end 30 to the coupling portion; 27.
The device is to be constructed of wire of the. desired gauge, possessing a non-rusting characteristic and which will not bend under normal usage.
lVhat I claim is: I 1.
