Description

COMBINATION SHIRT AND NECKTIE Filed Feb, 6, 1928 Patented Feb. 17, 1931 PATENT OFFICE WALTER J. PRICE, OF UNION GROVE, WISCONSIN COMBINATION SHIRT AND NECKTIE Application filed February 6, 1928. Serial No. 252,272.
This invention relates to a combination garment and necktie, and has for its primary object to provide a garment of the attached collar type with a permanently attached 5 necktie. The tie may be either of the bow or four-in-hand type, and may or may not be of the same material and color as the garment.
The device will be very suitable for persons required to wear uniforms such as policemen, postmen, or firemen. It will eliminate the misplacement of the tie and'would require that the tie and garment be washed at the same time, thus insuring a neatness of the tie so often lacking in work garments.
The device is also very suitable for sport wear as it enables the wearer to open the collar of the garment without removing the tie.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a front view of the upper part of a garment showing the tie in the form of a bow;
Figure 2 is a front view with the tie untied and the collar turned up to illustrate the manner in which the tie is attached to the neckband of the garment;
Figure 3 is a rear view with the collar of the garment turned up.
Referring by character to the drawing, Figure 1 is the body portion of an open front garment of the attached collar type having a neckband 2. The necktie 3 is secured intermediate its ends to the back and sides of the band 2, thus leaving the ends of the tie free to be tied to suit the style and taste of the wearer. In attaching the necktie 3 to the band 2, it is noted that double rows of stitching are extended along the upper and lower margins of the tie from adjacent one end of the neck band continuously to adjacent the other end thereof, thus positively retaining the tie in proper position relative to the neck band and collar, securely holding tive to the neckband.
Although the invention has been described in considerable detail, such description is intended as illustrative rather than limiting as the invention may be variously embodied and as the scope of such invention is to be determined as claimed.
I claim:
The combination of an opening front body garment having a neck band and a collar permanently secured thereto and an elongated tie havingits intermediate portion extended continuously around the neck band and of the same width as the neck band, said tie being connected to the neck band by double rows of stitching along the upper and lower margins thereof and extending from adj acent one end of the neck band continuously to adjacent the other end thereof, said stitching being spaced from the extreme ends of the neck band to provide a free portion of the tie at the ends of the neck band to thereby give the effect of a separate tie.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing 1 have hereunto set my hand at Union Grove, in the county of Racine and State of Wisconsin.
WALTER J. PRICE.
