ELECTRIC STAR Filed Apri1 2s, 1930 z sheets-sheet 2 Invenlor A Homey Patented Feb. 17, 17931` y UNITEDSTATES PATENT ori-*Ice f JOSEPH E. CHRISTASTIE,
OF ELMIRA," NEW YORK ELECTRIC STAR Application led April 28,
This invention relates to ornaments and is particularly adapted for Christmas orna- An object Vof the invention isA to provide an ornament of the character referred to that is very-.simple in its `method of construction, strong, compact and durable,` thoroughly reliable for its intended purpose, very pleasing in appearance, and comparatively inexpensive to manufacture. Y
With the foregoing and other objects in view, the invention consists of a novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more specifically described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein is disclosed an embodiv ment of the invention, but it is toV be understood that changes, variations and modifications may be resorted to without departing 2Q from the spirit of the claims hereto appended.
' In the drawings wherein like reference characters denote corresponding parts throughout the several views Y Figure 1 is a front elevation of the device in accordance with the present invention,
' Fig. 2 is a vertical detailed section taken substantially on the line 2-2 of Fig.V 1,
Fig. 3 is a fragmentary rear elevation thereof, with the trimmings removed, and
Fig. 4 is a wiring diagram. A
' In the drawings wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown the preferred embodiment of my invention 5 indicates generally the body portion which is in the configuration of a star. The body portion consists of a flat front wall in the form of a star,
preferably a five-pointed star.
Around the edges of the flat front wall 6, there is a depending rim which provides a hollow interior 8 that opens in the rear of the body portion. The points of the star terminate in round ends 9 which also have the depending sides thereon, similar to the sides 7.
The body portions of the round endsl 9 at the center thereof are formed with openings 10 around which are depending flanges 11 and seated in the flanged openings are the electric light sockets 12 to receive the electric light bulbs 13. The center of the front wall 6, that is at the center of the star, is likewise 1930. Serial No. 448,095.
formed` with a round opening 14, around which there is a depending flange 15, and in thi-s opening there is also seated an electric light socket 16 supporting the electric light bulb 17. y'
It is to be understood that there is one Aelectric light `socket, for each openingon the end A I cflight socket in the openings 14. Around the outer end of Vof the stars andone electri the roundend9 on each star is secured a rim 18 which encircles the points of the star, and
wrapped around this rim 18 is tinsel.
rllhe rim 18 is preferably formedofa round piecev ofk wire. The portion' ispreferably formed :of tin or` any other suitableV metal.' Y. rfhelouter vface of the front wall 6 and the l outer side of the depending wall-s? are coat-- ed withgiue and covered with artificial snow.
lf onefcoating does not servethe purpose, then two orfthree coatings thereof kmay be made.
Furthermore, it is to be Vunderstood that While the preferred embodiment ofthe invention uses imitation snow, the metallic` parts l thereof may bepainted any desired color.
For lightingtlie star in accordance Vwith -the present invention, the conventional eight socket series Vof electric light bulbs 21-inay be usedhaving the required vo rent used, and six ofthe soc as in' the corners of windows 1s used for a tlme.
ltage ofthe cury kets will be used v for lighting vthe star, while the two eXtra sockets may be used for other purposes, such in event the star window ornament at Christmas The` present embodiment of the invention y hasbeen disclosed in considerable detail i' merely for the purpose of exemplification since in actual practice it attains the features ofadvantage enumerated as desirable in the statement of thefinvention and. the above description.
It isl to be understood. th
at by describing in detail herein any particular form, structure, or arrangement, it is not intended to limit the invention beyond the terms of the several claims, or the requirements of the prior art.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as neW'is Y l. An ornamentof tliecharacter described comprising a rigid body portion in theshapeVl of a star, said body portion.formedsota iiat front Wall'having rounded apertured portions'on the end of the points of the starp:
