I port for electric light socket that is made in such a manner that the socket can be turned through a wide angle in a fixed plane. The support is made of a somewhat U-shape and is provided with arms that may be pivoted on a rod or bolt, and is attached to the cap of an electric light socket in a convenient and permanent manner.
The invention will be understood from the description in connection with the accompanying drawings in which Fig. 1 is a side elevation of an illustrated embodiment of the invention; Fig. 2 is a section through the line 22 of Fig. 1; and Fig. 3 is a plan view of the support. In the drawings reference character 1 indicates the shell of an electric light socket of the well known sort and the cap therefor is indicated by the reference character 2. The flat upper portion of the cap 2 is provided with the usual opening 3 and a bracket or support is connected in this opening. The bracket or support comprises a disc-shaped portion 4 and parallel arms 5 at tached to the disc-shaped portion. Holes or openings 6 are provided near the outer ends of the arms 5 for pivoting the support on a bolt 1928. Serial no. 259,721.

The disc like portion 4 ofthe support is at- I 'tached to the cap 2 by pressing the central portion of'the metal inwardly leaving a hole 7 and forming a cylindrical extensionthat projects through the hole 3 in the cap 2. The end of the cylindrical extension is pressed outwardly or riveted along the lower side of the fiat portion of the cap 2 as indicated at '8 so .as to hold the same securely in positioiu [The electric wires can be threaded through the hole 7 and connected to the lamp terminals in the usual manner. to swing the lamp socket, this can be done very readily by merely turning it about the pivoted point since the support for the socket is very rigidly and securely attached to the cap 2.
