Description
1931' w. D. ANTRIM OVEN BURNER ASSEMBLY Filed April 23, 1930 Patented Feb. 3, 1931 UNITED STTES oFFica WILLIAM D. ANTRIM, OF GLOUCESTER, NEV JERSEY, ASSIGNOR TO ROBERTS & LIANDER STOVE COMPANY, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, A CORPORATION OF PENN- SYLVANIA OVEN-BURNER ASSEMBLY Application filed. April 23,
My invention relates to certain improvements in the burner assembly for ovens and broilers of gas ranges.
One object of the invention is to provide means for closing the opening in the oven or broiler casing through which the burner pipe extends.
A further object of the invention is to provide means for readily centering the burner pipe in the oven lining.
These objects I attain in the following manner, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, in which:
Fig. 1 is a vertical sectional view of sufficient of an oven casing and burner of a gas range to illustrate my invention;
-F Fig. 2 is a sectional view on the line 22,
Fig. 3 is a face view of a portion of the oven lining;
Fig. 4 is a detached perspective view of an ovein burner and its rear supporting plate; an
Fig. 5 is a detached perspective view of the clevis piece which holds the oven lining in place.
1 is the oven or broiler casing of a gas range which consists of two outer plates 2-2, an inner plate 3, and a non-conducting filling 4 which is located in the space between the two plates. 5 is an inner plate forming the lining of the broiler, and 6 is a plate located some distance from the plate 5, forming a vent channel 7 8 is a ring of sheet metal flanged at 9 and 10, the flanges being secured to the plates of the oven in any suitable manner. The ring 8 forms a rim for the opening through which the burner neck extends.
Secured to the outer plates of the oven by means of bolts 11 in the present instance is a flanged tapered casting 12, which extends through the opening and abuts against a clevis 13, which is made as shown in Figs. 2 and 5. The clevis is slotted at 14: and fits over the projecting portion 15 of the burner neck 16 The lining 5a has an oval opening therein (Fig. 8) in the present instance and the portion 18 of the clevis 13 is shaped to fit this opening. The recess 19 in the clevis is also 1930. Serial No. 446,576.
assembled the clevis is held firmly in position by the flange of the burner and the tapered casting 12, and the burner structure is centered by the clevis which fits the oval opening in the lining of the oven or broiler.
While I have illustrated the projection and recess in the clevis as oval and the opening in the lining and the flange of the neck of like shape, the shape of the parts may be modified to any shape other than circular, when it is desired to prevent the parts turning in the oven lining.
I claim 1. The combination in a gas range, of an oven casing having an opening therein; a burner tube; a casting extending into the opening; a lining; and a clevis extending through an opening in the lining and clamped between the burner tube and the casting, the
burner being centered in the lining by the clevis.
2. The combination in a gas range, of an oven casing; an inner lining therefor; an opening for the gas pipe; a casting extending into the opening from the outer side; a burner casting having a tubular neck provided with a flange; a clevis extending through an opening in the said lining and clamped between the flange on the burner neck and the casting; a burner tube extending through the casting and secured to the burner tube.
3. A clevis piece for closing the opening in the lining of a gas oven and for holding the inner lining in position, said clevis piece having a slot therein arranged to receive the end of a burner neck and having a depressed portion arranged to receive a flange on said neck, the depressed port-ion being oval in shape to correspond with the shape of said flange.
4:. The combination in a gas range, of an oven casing having an opening therein; a lining for the oven having an oval opening;
, lining having an opening; a burner having" a flanged neck; and a slotted clevis located et-Ween the flange and the lining, the. elevis,
being so shaped as to prevent it turning in the lining and preventlng the burner turning in the clevis. v
