Another object of the invention is to provide a two part clamp which may be attached or detached from the wires without removing the clamping nuts therefrom, thus eliminating loose parts. i 4 .Still another object is to provide a wire clamp, adjustable for wires of different sizes and also to hold .and clamp more thanv two 'wires, and so constructed that a double lock or clamping means is provided.
' With these and other objects'in view, my
invention consists in certain construction and combination of parts as willhereinafter be fully described and claimed, and fully illustrated in the accompanying drawingwhich forms a part hereof and in which like figures of reference refer to corresponding parts in all of the views, but it is to be understood that slight changes may be made without departing from the spirit ofthe invention.
In the drawings Figure 1 is top plan view of the clamping, showing the same as applied to two wires.
Figure 2 is a side elevation of the same.
Figure 3 shows -a front elevation of the same.
Fi e 4 shows a topplan view of-a modified orm of the'device.
Figure 5 is a side elevation of the same. Figure 6 is a front elevation of the same.
Referring to the drawings Two electrical wires or conductors 10 and -11 are shown, but itis understood that stranded cables may be clamped, and more than two, and of different sizes within the capac- I ity of the clamp.
The clamp comprises two parts which are duplicates of each other and each comprises a. threaded stud or bolt 12, which is formed with a head 13 intetglral therewith and ofllset at right angles to a stud or body portion 12, and at the junction of the head with the body there is formed upon the under side of the head 13 a groove 17 to embrace the wires. The threaded portion is provided with the washer 15 and the clamping nut 16.! '66 As shown inFigures 1, 2 and-3, the head 13 is formed with an opening or bore-in parallel relation with the threaded portion 12 and adapted to receive the threaded portion of the other member when thetwo parts of the clamp are assembled together; and this opening is formed with a side opening or slot 14 adapted to allow the threadedportion 12 of the other part to pass therethrough for the purpose of assemblingthe clamp upon or removing from the wires 10 and 11 without having to remove'the nuts 16 and wash ers 15 therefrom and only requiring that said nuts be slightly loosened or backed OK.
In the modified form shown in Figures 4, M 5 and 6, the opening or slot 18 is formed in the end of the head 13 in place of the side as shown' in the other figures of the drawing.
It is to be understood that this device may be made of any desired material, and that the shape of the head may be varied as desired, as also may the opening formed by the two parts of the clamp for the wires, but
that the bolt hole in the head shall be formed with a slot allowing the bolt of the other part so to be removed without the removal of the nuts.
By referring to Figure 6 of the drawing, it y will be seen that the head 13, may be formed with a depression or recess 18 within which as rests the washer 15 preventing the bolt 12 from being removed bysliding out from the slot 18 until the washer'15 is raised from contact with said recess.
Having thus described my invention, what so I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is i 1. A wire clamp, comprising a pair of identical members, each member comprising a .head and a threaded stud at right angles to and integral therewith, said head formed with a slotted o enin parallel to, the axis of the stud and a aptef to receive the stud of the other member, and-means for securing said members together.
' 2. A wire clamp com rising a pair ofi clamp members, eac comprising an L-shap 7 member formed witha head and a, threaded stud at right angles thereto, said heads formed with a U-shaped opening adapted to receive the threaded stud of the other member, and means for clamping said members together.
3. In a clamp of the class described, two
cooperating members each formed with a threaded portion and a bifurcated headed end off-set and at right angles thereto and adapted to engage the threaded portion of the other member, each of said headed ends formed with a oove in the lower side thereof adapted to orm a clamping surface, and. means for holding said members in clamping rela-- tion with each other.
In testimony whereof I afix my signature.
' STEPHEN P. BEGmR.
