May 4, 1929, Serial No. 360,433.
This invention relates to a new and improved display stand. I
It is the object of this invention, among other things, to provide a device of this char- 5 acter that will. be complete, in all of its appointments, practically unlimited in the scope of its use, and provided with article holding platforms of varying sizes and shapes and relative positions, that may be independently s rotatable, as well as to provide a stand which will be bothneat and pleasing in its appearance. 1
To these, and other ends, my invention consists in the display stand, having certain v details of construction and combinations of parts, as will be hereinafter described and more particularly pointed out in the claims.
Referring to the drawings, in which like 1 reference characters indicate like parts in the several figures; I
Figure'l is a sectional elevation of my display stand; 7
Figure 2 is a plan view thereof, the parts in section beingtaken generally upon line 22 of Figure 1; and
Figure 3 is a fragmentary view, the parts in .section'being taken generally upon line 33 of Figure In the embodiment of my invention as herein disclosed 10 indicates the base, which is shown as being constructed with four arms and mounted upon casters. Secured to this base is a base plate 11, within which is threadably secured the standard 12, which is pref erably hollow and provided at its upper end with a thimble 13 having a raceway for the balls 14.
Telescopically fitted over the standard 12 is the sleeve member 15, somewhat shorter in length than the standard 12, having at its lower end a thimble 16, within which is a raceway for the balls 17, which latter engage the cone 18 fixed to the standard '12. The
upper end of the sleeve member 15 is closed by a cap member 19, having an inside cone 20, which projects through and has a bearing against the balls 14, which provide an antifriction bearing therefor. After the upper part of the sleeve member 15 has been adjusted the cone 18 is positioned and an'antifriction bearing is provided for the sleeve 7 member. i v I Secured to the sleeve member 15 are a plurality of collars 21, there being a collar for 1 each of the display platforms. Resting on each of these collars is a shell 22 having a raceway therein for the balls 23, against which rides the collar 24, the upper edge of which projects above the top of the shell 22.
Encircling'the sleeve member 15and rest ing upon the top of the collar 24 is a platform plate25, which supports the platform 26, and is held against upward movement by the collar 27. v In the drawings I have shown three plat forms, the upper andlower ones being sub stantially flat, but of different diameters, but i a greater or less number may be used as de-. sired;
The intermediate platform is provided with a flaring or inclined wall 30, which terminates at. its lower end ina flange or band 28,which may be of any desired shape, that provides a support for any articleplaced against the flaring or inclined wall 30, such as a basket, box or the like. 1
By means of a pulley 29, fixed to the sleeve member 15,,the latter and the display platform associated therewith, may be rotated by means of a belt or the like. 7
There are minor changes and-alterations that may be made within my invention, aside from those herein suggested, and I would therefore have it understood, that I do not limit myself to the exact construction herein shown and described, but claim all that falls fairly within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
1. In a display stand; a base; a hollow standard secured thereto; a thimble in the upper end of the standard; a sleeve outside of and. shorter than the standard; a cap closing the upper end of the sleeve having any inside cone that projects into the thimble; a plurality of balls between the thimble and cone providing an anti-friction bearing therebetween; a th mble at the lower end of collar and last mentioned thimble, whereby platform encircling the sleeve and supported by the ring collar.
In testimony whereof, I have hereunto affixed my signature.
LOUIS GHARTOFF.
the sleeve; an adjustable collar on the standard; and a plurality of balls between the an anti-friction bearing is provided at the lower end of the sleeve.
2. In a display stand; a base; a hollow standard secured thereto; a thimble in the upper end ofthe standard; a sleeve outside of and shorter than the standard; a cap closing the upper end of the sleeve having an inside cone that projects intothe thimble; a plurality of balls between the thimble and cone providing an anti-friction bearing therebetween; a thimble at the lower end of the sleeve; an adjustable collar on the standard; a plurality of balls between the collar and last mentioned thimble, whereby anvanti friction bearingv is providedat the lower end of the sleeve; and plurality of platforms associated with the sleeve adjustable relatively thereto.
3. The combination ina display stand; of a base; a hollow standard secured thereto; a thimble in theupper end of the standard; a sleeve outside of and shorter than the standard; aicap having an inside cone that projects into the thimble forming botha closure for the upper end of the sleeve and a bearing therefor; a plurality of balls between the thimble and cap forming an anti-friction bearing therebetween; a thimble at the lower end of the sleeve; an adjustable collar on the standard; a plurality of balls between the collar and last mentioned thimble whereby an anti-friction bearingis provided at the lower end of the sleeve; a plurality of collars adj ustably secured on the sleeve; a shell resting on each of said collars; a ring collar, encircling the sleeve above the first mentioned collar, and within the shell; a plurality of balls between the shell and the ring collar; and a platform encirclingthe sleeve and supported by the ringicollar.
4;. The combination in a display stand; of a base; a hollow standard secured thereto; a thimble in the upper end of the standard; a sleeve outside of and shorter than the standard; a cap having an inside cone that projects into the thimble formingrboth a closure for the upper end of the sleeve and a bearing. LL; therefor; a plurality of 'balls between the thimble and cap forming an anti-frictionbearing therebetween; a thimble at the lower end of the sleeve; an adjustable collar on the standard; a plurality of balls between the collar and last mentioned thimble whereby an anti-friction bearing is provided at the lower end of the sleeve; a plurality of collars adjustably secured on the sleeve; a shell rest ing on each of said collars; a ring collar, encircling the sleeve above the first mentioned collar, and within the shell, that projects above the'top-thereof; a plurality of balls between the shell and the ring collars; and a I ill)
