y 1935. N. G. HURLBUT FLORAL SPRAY DISPLAY CROSS Filed Aug. 28, 1934 nh lnAvln b5 A Attorney Patented July 9, 1935 UNITED STATES FLORAL SPRAY DISPLAY CROSS Newell G. Hurlbut, Joplin, Mo. Application August 28, 1934, Serial No. 741,866
v 1 Claim.
This invention relates to a floral spray display cross, the general object of this invention being to provide a cross formed of detachable parts with means whereby floral sprays can be readily 5 placed on and supported by the cross to provide an attractive display of the sprays and to provide means whereby a plurality of sprays will be supported in the form of a cross.
This invention also consists in' certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawing wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in Which:
Figure 1 is a front view of the invention with parts broken away.
Figure 2 is a view of the central part of the base member.
Figure 3 is a fragmentary elevation showing how the lower upright may be bent rearwardly to place the cross at an incline.
In this drawing, the numeral l indicates the central portion of the base which is of substantially cross shape and has a socket 2 at its cen- 30 ter, with the arms of said member forming sockets for receiving the tubes 3 which act to make the base of sufficient area to firmly support the upright cross with the sprays thereon. Each piece 3 is detachably held in its socket by a pin 4 which may be connected with the central member by a chain 4' so that there is no danger of the pins becoming lost. An end member 5 is placed on the outer ends of each piece 3, such member being of resilient material and these 40 members 5 actto prevent the base from marring floors or other support on which the device is placed. A sectional upright post of tubes 6 and I connected together by a sleeve 8, has its lower end placed in the socket 2 and held therein by a pin 9, pins Ill holding the sections to the sleeve. A substantially cross shaped tubular member H has one arm placed over the upper end of the.
member ll while horizontal tubes l3 have their inner ends placed in the horizontal arms of the member ll. Pins I4 hold the parts in position each pin being connected to an adjacent part by a chain I4. The members 6, I, I2 and I3 are all provided with upwardly extending points l5 for holding sprays to these parts, these points being preferably arranged as shown in Figure 3 with their straight parts set in holes in the members and this figure shows the lower section bent at its point of junction with the socket 2 so that the cross formed by the parts inclines rearwardly and upwardly as shown in Figure 3.
From the foregoing it will be seen that'the device can be readily assembled and disassembled and that when set up and with sprays placed thereon an attractive floral cross is provided which will support a plurality of the sprays so that quite a number of sprays will be supported by the device.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of the invention will be readily apparent.
It is to be understood that changes may be made in the construction and in the combina-' tion and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
What is claimed is:
A device of the class described comprising a base, a sectional upright of tubular form having its lower end detachably supported by the base, a sleeve for holding the sections together, a substantially cross-shaped member of tubular form having one arm fitting over the top of the upper section, a vertically arranged tubular member fitting in the upper vertical arm of the cross-shaped member, horizontal arms fitting in the other arms of the cross-shaped member, means for detachably holding the parts together, and upwardly inclined pointed members carried by the sections and the vertical and horizontal arms, said base comprising a central member of substantially cross-shaped form and having socketed ends, tubular members detachably connected with the socketed parts and resilient members on the ends of the tubular members.
