nnmaxcn onnnarca', or rnrrzie, GERMANY, assrenoa r0 rmmarcn nor-mun, or LEIPZIG, enamm 'cannuanroa Applicatiomflled June 1, 1929, Serial No. 867,731, and in Germany Ital-ch 2,1929.
The present invention relates to floatless carburetors for internal combustion engines and more particularly to a device for regulating the supply of fuel in such carburetors.
The invention consistsin a device of the aforesaid kind, characterized in that a movable regulating member provided with a hollow or chamber is arranged in the carburetor body and that the said regulating member is provided with any desired number of outlet ports of any desired size and shape through which the fuel supplied passes onward into the channels leading to the suction pipe.
When the said regulating member is operated the outlet ports provided in it are opened or closed successively during its movement for the purpose of supplying to the internal combustion engine a quantity of fuel corresponding to its consumption. In this manner it is rendered possible to regulate the fuel supply to the greatest possible extent, and always to supply to the engine the particular quantities of fuel which it requires for yielding the particular outputs required from time to time. The aforesaid regulating member maybe constructed in the form of a rotary valve, slide valve, piston valve, cock, or the like and may likewise be employed for shutting off the fuel rotary valve supply completely. The outlet ports provided on the said regulating member prefer ably lead into a recess provided inthe carburetor casing frpm which recess the conduits leading to thesuction ipe-are branched off.
The regulating mem er may also be positively connected with the member for regulating the air supply, such as a throttle valve,
or the like'in order to be able always to supply to the engine an exactly regulated fuel mixture. The device according to the invention is applicable to carburetors of any kind for example, it may be employed for float and jet carburetors, or the like.
A preferred constructional form according to the invention 'is diagrammatically illustrated by way of example on the accompanyin drawings, in which:
ig. 1 shows longitudinal section,
Fig. cross section taken on line A B of Fig. 1,
ing drawings,
the regulating member in;
2 shows the regulating member in taining the desired output. It is to be un- Fig. 3 shows the regulating member in elevation, and
Fig. 4 shows, by way of example, a particular constructional form of a floatless carburetor in which a regulatingmember according to the invention is positively connected with a throttle valve so that the said regulating member is positively moved when the throttle valve is ad usted.
Referring to the drawings, the reference letter a denotes a carburetor casing in which a regulating member 6 shown as a rotary valve is arranged, which regulatin member is provided witha hollow or cham er a and with a number of outlet ports (I of any desired size and shape, throughwhich latter the fuel (which may, for example, be admitted through the passage e) passes onward to the suction pipe 7 of the carburetor or the engine. The outlet ports d preferably open into a recess 9 provided in the carburetor casing, from lating mem er, successively opened or closedv in such manner that at'any given time only just suflicient fuel is supplied to the induction pipe 7 as is required by the engine in accordance with its. output. The supply of fuel to the interior of the regulating member b may be effected for example by means of conduits i and e.
The regulating member I) may advantageously be positively connected with the member for regulating the supply ,of air, for instance, throttle valve, rotary valve or the like, as indicated at k in order to render it possible always to supply to the engine an exactly proportioned uniform fuel mixture.
. A particular constructional form of this kind .is shown diagrammatically in Fig. 4.
By means of the regulatin device above... Y
described and illustrated in t e accompanyit is rendered possible to regulate exactly the quantities of combustible mixture supplied to the engine so that at any given time only so much combustible mixture is formed as is'necessary for atderstood that'the device according to my i1 rention is intended to .be applie only to floatless carburetors. I claim:
1. In a floatless carburetor for internal combustion engines, the combination of: a carburetor body, a throttle valve in said carburetor body, a shaft upon which said throttle valve is mounted, an air admission inlet admittin air to said throttle valve, a fuel nozzle dlschargin in said carburetor body anterior to the t rot'tle, a fuel re lating 7 member arran din said carburetor ody on said shaft, a c amber in the interior of said regulating member, means for sup lying fuel to said chamber, a plurality of out et ports in said regulating member, and channels in the carburetor'bo y connecting said outlet ports with said fuel nozzle whereby plied in predetermined quantity anterior to the throttle valve.
2. In a floatless carburetor for internal combustion'engines, the combination of: a carburetor body, a throttle valve in said carburetor body, a shaft upon which said throttle valve is mounted, an air admission inlet admittin air to said throttle valve, a fuel nozzle dlscharging in the said carburetor body anterior to the throttle, a fuel regulating member arranged in said carburetor body on said shaft, a chamber in the interior of said re latin member, means for su ply-' ing fueflo sai chamber, a plurality 0 outlet ports in said regulating member, a second chamber in the carburetor body located immediately anterior to the said outlet ports, and channels in the carburetor body connectin said voutlet ports with said fuel nozzle, w ereby fuel is supplied in predetermined quantity anterior to the throttle s (1 Le G h 1 11' igne at ipzi erman t is- 5t day of April, 1929. g y, a HEINRICH OELEBICH.
