his invention relates to means for collecting andv disposing of steam,- vapours, fumes, gases', andthe like which may be discharged from dyeing machines, 5, 'In the dyeing of textile materials, such as loose fibres, yarns, hose and fabrics, it is usual to immersesuch materials in a hot or boiling dye liquor which is agitated or circulated relative -to the material being 'i0 dyed. Such motion ofthe dye liquor-'is necessary for the even dyeing of the textile materials, and may be Aproduced by various methods. In certain types of modern 'dyeing machines, it has been found Apreferable to agitate or eirculate'the dye` liquor by blowing into it air or a mixture of air and steam. Then air aloneds used it is usual to use an air compressing machine, and when a mixture of air and steam is used it is usual to obtain and force this mixture into the dye liquor by means ofan airf steam injector. This last-named injector is a device well known to engineers and the makers of dyeing machines, and is constructed such that steam Vbeing blown into the dye liquor passes through a nozzle and thus draws air from the outside atmosphere so that a mixture of airand steam enter the dye liquor. It will be readily understood that during dyeing a` considerable quantity of steam or water vapour is discharged from the. dyeing machine into the surrounding atmosphere, and that this rdischarge is very objectionable. v According to the present.v open top'of the dye vat is provided with a hood or cover having a pipe or the like connection to means for exhaust-ing air, steam or vapour therefrom. Conveniently, this con- 40 nection may be made to .the inlet for the in-A jector, so that there will'be a continuous ref circulation of air, steam or vapour.
