' Specification forming part of Letters Patent No, 178,898, dated J nne 2 0, 1876; application filed April 25 1876.
To all whom it'may concern: 1
Be it known that I, FRANCIS R. BELL, of Marshall, in the county of Harrison and State of Texas, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Plows, of which the followingis a specification:

The object of this invention is to improve the construction of my improved mold-board for which Letters Patent, No. 163,352, were granted to me May 18, 1875, to make it more efi'ective in preventing the black lands of Texas and other sticky. and Waxy soils from adher- "IMPROVEMENT IN P ow s.

The rear side of the mold-board F maybe I recessed, if desired, and rubber or othersuitable packing, H, should be inserted between it and the edges of the facing G, to prevent the oil from escaping at said edges. The oil or other lubricating material is poured in through a hole, f, in the upper edge of the,
mold-board F, which hole is then closed, and
should be kept closed whilethe plow is in;
rear side with metal, having a recess or chain-1 ber between it and said metallic facing, and
perforated with numerous small holes, substantially as herein shown, and for the purpose described. I
