APPARATUS-FOR AUTOMATICALLY Covenns use Basins .ourniissjns Ann rn i mxn Application filed February 25, 1929, seriai No. 342,636, and in the 1ether1andsMarch'8f1928:
This invention relates to improvements in oil presses and moreparticularly to a novel means whereby the oil basins may be covered toprevent pollution 01"? the oil.
ln filling presses, for example oil presses with the materials to be pressed, these presses having either rising or fixed basins for the oil, the difiiculty s often experienced, that a part of said material falls into sa d basin,
, owing to which the oil which later on will flow into these basins, is seriously polluted. To clarify this oil again so as to. makeit useful for practice, expensive installations are necessary.
The apparatus according to the present invention now eliminates these drawbacks for the greater art'and guarantees that an oil is obtained which is nearly free from any press-material.
Itis characterized by the feature that the fixed or rising basins of the oil-presses are associated with an apparatus, in such a way,
that said basins are covered while the material to be pressed is being brought into the presses, but are automatically opened again as soon as'the machine starts to press, so that the oil pressed out of the material may flow into said basins and the same time the vwaste press-material is-put outside the press.
invention embodied in a covering for fixed oil basins.
Fig. 2 is a top plan view. of the structureshown in Fig. 1. i
Fig. 3 is a view similar to Fig. 1, showing the invention embodied in a covering for rismg 011 basins.
Fig. fl. is a top plan shown in Fig. 3. In the embodiment shown in Figs. 1 and 2,
viewv of the structure the plates 1 reston the fixed oil basins 6, the
latter surrounding the oil-press, said plates,
. inder 9.
the oil-pr at the outer side of the basins, beingcmouinyed for vertical swinging inovement-by means or hinges! and covering the basins as much as possible; r E t On said platesl, inal well "known manner,
levers are mounted which can slide over pins 4, upon. which they :rest or are mounted insuch a way that they may have suchimo tion; thesepins lare mounted ina stamp =7 which upon the risingiand lowering cyl- I f this stamp 7 is raised, which stamp tog ther with cylinder 9. is a part of so that the pressing-ofthemaierial begin the levers 2 sliding over the pins are elevated and owing to thismovemeat-of the levers, ithe plates lare lifted :up
atythe inner side of the press, so that; the
waste press-material slides oil, the basins are uncoi ered and the oil can flow' into. the basins. 1' p Alsoat the highest positionoli stamp fiat which theqlevers 2 arenearly vertical, the
levers which still. reston the pins are sup ported thereupon in such a manner that the pressing being finished and the stamp lot" cred, they again assumetheir.horizontal 'position and the plates 1 again cover thebasins and new material can be brought into the press-plates inounted between the columns 8 of the press, the oil being supplied to the basins without being polluted.
In case of oil-presses having basins which are raised during pressing, the plates 1 in Figs. 3 and 4 are provided with levers 2 to the outer endsof which chains 3 are connected; Thesechains are connected at their inner ends to a common weight 11,- which at the lowest position of the presses rests on a foot-stall 10 WVhen the basins are raised and the pressing begins, the weight 11 becomes free, whereupon the chains 3 are stretched, levers 2 are drawn downwards and the plates 1 upon which these levers are mounted and whiclnjust as incase of the plates for the fixed basins, may, for example by means of hinges 5, be mounted forvertical swinging movement'on the outer sides of the basins, assume a vertical position, whereupon the preferably in two pieces.
Waste press-material slides ofi' and the oil can flow into the uncovered basins.
In any form of apparatus'according to the invention the plates cover the basins around the columns 8, Which are a part of the press, as completely as possible and are It is clear that the apparatus according to the invention is not restrictedto use on oil-presses only, but may be installed on all 1 similar machines; e
What l'claim is: r
1.1111111 oil press or the like embodying" a basin means forvcovering the basin to pre v vent pollution ofthe contents of the basin comprising a cover plate movable into and out of position to cover and close the basin, and means automatically actuated through operation of a moving part of the press for effecting such movement of the plate. i 2.'In'an oil press or the like embodying a basin, means for covering the basin to pre vent pollution of the contents of the basin comprising a cover plate movable into and out of position to cover and close the basin, and tending to assume its closed position by gravity, and comprising, also,- means for supporting the plate during its period 'of movement from closed. to open and from open. to closed position. a p
'3. In an oil press or the like embodying ab'asin, means for covering the basin to prevent pollution of the contents of thebasin comprlsing a cover. plate, a hinged member supporting the plate for movement into and out of position to cover and close the'basin, and means, carried by a verti- V cally movable part of the press, engaging beneath the hinged member for efiec'ting i such movement of the plate.
In testimony whereof I'V'have signed my name to this specification.
