OF TOLEDO, OHIO, e-OOnrOA-TIQN `Orf OHlO o Y GEAR SEGMENT Fon wrNfno w'snnenAfroas(ff The invention' relates to window regulatorsand is particularly applicable to mechanisms for raising and lowering windows of motorr vehicles. One of the objects of the invention is the provision of an improved manufactured. Another object is to Vprovide a window regulator having an improved actuating mechanism which is'so constructed that it has a long life of operation.
- ther object is to provide a simple arrange ment of windowf; regulator, mounting plate, a llfter larm anda convoylute counterbalancing spring.
With these as well as other obj ects in view Y the invention resides in the novel features of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts as more fully hereinafter set forth.
In the drawings Figure l is an-l lnterior side elevation,
- having in yits upper portion. the opening 2 and in vits lower portion the chamber 8. is the window in the natureof av glass plate,
which is vadapted to be vertically slid from a4V position closing kthe` opening 2 into the chamber 3.
The regulator yfor raisinigt and lowering theywindow includes the .li r arm` 5 suitahl connected at its outer end to the window asV y means of the roller 6 upon the lifter arm engaging in the channel 7 secured to the lower edge of the window. This lifter mounting is secured The pivot armr is pivotally mounted upon the plate V8,the upper portion of which to the lock boa-rd 9 of the door.
in the present instance is formed by the pin 10 which is journal'ed in the lower "portion,
ofthe mounting plate below the lock board A 'furn including a' y-in'ent llgis' formed fr'omfa sheets'teel blank of substantially uniform; thickness andlitsteeth I15 are frolled and, as shown particularly in yFigures 2 and 5,'*have a greater width VVthan i Whichfassist m instance, my inv .vention is applied to a motor vehicle door 1 ing the wearing'qualities of the gear sega'na to' the lguter. For counterbalancing the weight of the windowy 4' '1I haveprovided the convolutef spring 19 which is located at the inner side .of the mounting plate 8 and below the lock board 9 and surrounds the inner end off the pin 10. This convolute spring has its inner 5 end secured to the pin 9, in the Vpresent instancebyrengaging in the slot 20 in the pin, n and has-fitsifoiiterfend secured to the mounting plate; This latter connection is made by Y means ofthe transverse inturned ear 21 upon ,lo the -ri'ghhhand inclined lower fedge 22d-fthe f mounting plate, the ear preferably havingat its inner edgethe upwardly extending projection 23 for preventing 'the outer hooked end of the convolute sprin lfrom becoming e i 15 laterally disengaged from t 'e'ear.
