, 1 0 all whom, it may concern I Be itknown that I, ANGELO ROBERT Cine; a citizen of the nitcd States, and a resident of Toledo, in the county of Lucas and Stateof Ohio, have invented a new-and useful Window-Control Mechanism, which invention is fully set forth in the following specification. Referring to the drawings, 1 designates a door or window casing, forming a window opening 2 in its top portion and a chamber 3 in its lower portion. The customary cross bar or look board 4- is provided in the door or casing at the inner side of the top portion of the chamber 3, and a glass or other suitable closure member 5 is mounted for vertical movements in the casing to adapt it to enclose the opening 201 to be lowered in the chamber? The control mechanism for the closure member includes a plate 6, which is screwed or otherwise rigidly secured to the inner side of the cross-bar d and carries a pivot.

It is important however, that the points of connection of thelink 14 with the arm 13 and lever ll'be the same distance from the pivotal center of one as the other.
The weight of the window member on the a lever 11 is counterbalanced by a coiled contractile spring 15, which is connected at one end to an extended inner, end of the lever and at its other end to a bracket 16 secured to the casing 1 and projecting into the lower a suitable sleeve member 19, and is adapted to receive a control handle (not shown) at its outer end. The pin 20, which secures the pinion 17 to the shaft 18, projects at its ends into a substantially ll-shaped notch 21 in the outer hub end of the pinion, and a coiled compression spring 22 is mounted on the shaft between the sleeve 19 and pinion, and normally forces the pinion outward on the shaft so that the pin seats within the apex portion of the notch 21. A lock finger 23 is fixed to the plate 6 and engages one or more teeth of the pinion 17.,when the pinion is at the limit of its outward movement with respect to the shaft 18. Upon a turning of the shaft 18 in either direction the pin 20 first acts on the inclined sides of the notch 21. to force the pinion inward against the tension ofthe spring 22 and out of locking engagement withthe finger 23 and a continued turning movement of the shaft will then cause the pinion to turntherewnth and impart a turned movement to the sector gear 8. Having thus described my invention, What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:

a spring connected to said leverand adapted to be connected at the opposite end thereof to a stationary point within the casing, a link movably connected to said lever between the Window 'engaging'end and pivot thereof, and interengaging toothed elements on said support and connected to one end of said link whereby actuation of said elements inone direction or the other raises or lowers the window.
