Patented Dec. 30, 193- 0 Unire srAi'rss PATENT OFFICE INDICATING- COPYHOLDER Application filedv October 4, 1929, Serial No. 397,343, and in Argentina August 17, 1929.
rlhis invention reilers to an improved copy holder provided with a device for indicating the line which is being copied, thus eliminating much of the trouble and annoyance caused by having to stop the Work oi' copying and nd the place or location of the particular line which is beine' copied.
Copy-holders of this class are known, but the present invention is provided With novel and useful rdevices for operating the sliding indicator bar. y i
ln the accompanying drawings:
Fig. l is a iront vien7 or the copy holder,
Fig. 2 is a side vieiv oi' the saine, and Fig. 3 is a detail sectionon the line B-Sof t)y reference to the said figines, it will be seen that the copy holdergconsists ofv an upright traine composed oiithe vertical mem# bers B and horizontal members B', mounted To the upper horizontal member B Yhere is attached by screws or rivets or the like, a spring' or elastic clip A. All of the foregoing description applies to known devices.
On the right hand upright or vvertical member of the frame, there is mounted a vertical rail upon which is dovetailed the slidingblock lvl, to which there is hinged the indicator bar L, the left hand end of which eX- tends entirely across the face of the copy holder frame, and is movable vertically to indicate the line which it is desired to copy or read.
The said indicator bar L extends to the right for a short distance beyond the bloclr M on which it is ulcrumed, forming'a lever.
F b means ot which the bar L may be lifted to introduce under it the paper-or book, etc.,
A which it is desired to read. VAbout midway between the end of the lever F andthe fulcrum block M, the shank of the lever F is fastened to the belt cord or elastic K which runs over the pulleys C and C at the top and bottom respectively of the copy-holder trame. To one ot the pulleys, preferably the lower one, C', there is attached by the shaft Q a button or handwheel D by which the pulley is revolved and the bar L made to move vertically to the desired position.
ln creer to introduce the copy below the indicator bar L, the latter 1s raised by pressing down the lever F 5 and as the latter is attached to the cord or elastic K at the point lblock on said frame, an indicating bar `pivoted to said block, one end of said bar eX- tending across the Jframe and the other end extending laterally from said block to form a lever end adapted to be depressed to move the rst mentioned end away from the frame to facilitate the introduction of a copy sheet under the bar, ireely rotatable supporting' pulleys, and a cord connected at one point to said bar for actuating the latter and normally retaining the bar in position upon the f frame.
Signed at Buenos Aires, this sixth day of September, A. D. 1929.
