REENFORGED CONCRETE STRUCTURES Application filed December 27, 1928, Serial No. 328,646, and in Austria January 3, 1928 This invention relates to, improvements in the construction of an expansion joint for reenforced concrete structures.
It is wellknown to arrange'pile-bearings in the expansion joints of reenforced concrete structures but none of these constructions is satisfactory, mainly because the expansion joint passes through the pile-bearings without being aiforded proper protection and without permitting complete inspection thereof. I
The object of the present invention is to provide a pile-bearin which will be efficient in operation and which will not permit the individual parts to change their shape, and w I accomplish this object by arranging the pile-bearing at the side of the joint and at the place of expansion, and by closing all sides thereof on the outside, and further by rendering the casing of the pile-bearing accessible from the exterior in order to permit the ready inspection of the bearing.
The invention is described in the following specification, set forth in the appended claim and illustratively exemplified in the accompanying drawings, in which,

At a later stage, the filling members prevent the obstruction of the joint, but practically do not resist the closing of the joint caused by thelengthwise expansion of t ping ends of beams forming the expansion joint of reenforced concrete structures comprising a casing closed at all sides and including spaced top and bottom walls inter posed between the overlapping ends of said joint and laterally removable side walls, and upright pillars forming the bearings arranged in pendulous position within said caslng. r
