The invention relates to vanityoases land hasas an object, the provision of a. vanity case having a self openingcover adapted in `the opening movement to feed powder to a removable powder pu housed in the case.

Tohold the cover in closed position, there is shown a catch 55engaging a notch in the cover 42, the catch being resilient and having ears 56, 57 riveted to the member 45 as clearly shown in Fig. 2; a button 58 projecting through the box by which the catch may be actuatedv to withdraw the1 same from the notch to allow the cover to spring open under action of spring 53. Desirably a mirror 59 is provided, carried by the lower surface ofthe cover42. f

To feed powder from the chamber 2,0 to a powder puff 60, there is shown a sliding perforated diaphragm 61 reciprocahle in the slots provided between the upper edges of the members 16;.-19and the members 49, 50, 51, the diaphragm being held in'normal position Vbyv means of a leaf kspring y62. The

A vanity box comprising, in combination, a casing having a powder chamber and a powder .puff chamber therein, a perforated reciprocable diaphragm `separating vsaidV j v chambers and arranged todirectly support a to, and rnb the chambers, a cover for said-pulf chamber hinged upon saidv casing, a portion of-said cover extending rearwardly fromthe hinge and entering the casing as the cover-opens,a

portion ofsaid diaphragm extending into the path of movement of said cover portion for abutment thereby to cause movement of the diaphragm to feed power to a powder puff in the puE chamber.

A vanity box comprising, in combination, a casing comprising outer walls and an inner wall spaced therefrom at the end of one dimension of the casing, said casing having a powder and a powderpu chamber closed at oneV side by said inner wall, a reciprocable perforated diaphragm separating said chambers and projecting into said space, said diaphragmbeing Jarranged to directly support a powder puff, a cover hinged to said casing having a portion extending outwardly beyond the hinge axis' and movable into .said

space and into contact with a portion of said diaphragm and thereby move the latter when the cover opens.
