IMPROVEMENT IN LASTlNG-TOOLS FOR BOOTS ANDSHOES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 178,442, dated June 6, 1876; application filed April 8, 1876.

The nature of our invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a combined pinchers and boot-laster, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In the annexed drawing, A and B represent two levers or handles, formed respectively with the downwardly-curved jaws O and D. The lever A is slotted at or near the base of its jaw O, and the lever B passed through the same and pivoted at a.
The jaws O and D are corrugated, or otherwiseroughened, on their adjoining surfaces,
and their outer ends are made wider than the body of the jaws so as to present a wider surface to the leather.
On top of the jaw D is formed a hammer, E, with claw b at its front end. On the under side of the jaw O, at or near the base thereof, is formed a lip, G, which is curved downward and backward, and is corrugated on its front and under surface. This lip forms the fulcrum for stretching the leather, and, being corrugated, is not liable to slip.
What we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The improved boot-laster, consisting of the handles or levers A B, and jaws O D, the curved and corrugated under lip G, and the combined hammer and claw E b, all constructed as and for the purpose set forth.
