Description
D 2, 1930- A. BOTTNER 1,783,326
WINDOW PANE Filed Sept. 12, 1928 ,Patented Dec. 2, 1930 I I r 1,783,326
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE AUGUST BTTNER, OI ELTKANNSHAUSEN, GERMANY WINDOW PANE Application filed September 12, 1928, Serial Io. 805,550, and in Germany January 28, 1,928.
This invention relates to a window pane composed of two spaced glass plates, each of .which is provided with a groove in each of its four rims, the two grooves being 10- cated opposite one another and containing a packing strip. Besides, a non-return valve is provided through which theair enclosed in the space between said glass plates can be sucked away and by which said space can be kept exhausted. A window pane of this improved kind presents the advantages over the known windows (sin 1e, as well as doubleones) that it is more urable and affords better protection from heat and coldness,-
especially if the space between the two glass plates has been exhausted, as is to be the rule. The improved window pane can'be used not only for the windows of houses and other abodes, but also for industrial edi-- fices, cooling houses, horticultural buildings,
and the like.
The invention is illustrated diagrammatically and by way of example on the accom anying drawing, on which Figure 1 is a 5 ront-view of a window pane designed accordin to this invention, and Figure 2 is a vertica transverse section through the same.
On the drawing, a and 6 denote the two glass plates, which are provided with grooves a and b in each oftheir-rims (1 and b. The glass plates arefispaced, as. shown in Fig. 2, and their proper distance is maintained by. packing strips 0, whereby a hollow space (1 is formed and maintained between them.
This space can be exhausted through a non-return valve which then keeps said space continually in exhausted state.
I claim:
A window pane, comprising two spaced glass plates having each a groove in each rim and being so arranged relatively to one another that the grooves of the two plates lie opposite one another, and packing strips .located in said grooves.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
AUGUST BUTTN'ER.
