This invention relates to collapsible tubes for containing and dispensing tooth paste, shaving cream, or the like, and more particularly to a clip for locking the fiat end of such 6 a collapsible tube.

One object of this invention is to provide a paste tube clip which will be very securely attached to the fiat end of the tube and yet will not pierce or puncture the metal thereof.

A further object is to provide a device of the above nature which will be simple in construction, inexpensive to manufacture, easy to install and manipulate, compact, rigid, ornamental in appearance, and very efficient and durable in use.

With these and other objects in view there have been illustrated on the accompanying drawing several forms in which the invention may be convenientlyembodiedin practice.

Fig. 1 represents a plan view of a collapsible tube having applied thereto a clip of the first formembodying the invention.

It has been customary in the past to secure the locking clips of collapsible tubes in position on the flatrends of such tubes by means of cooperating sets of indentations in the clip situated opposite each other. One

indentation of each set was generally a point and the other indentation a socket fitting about said point. It was found in practice, however, that this form of construction was easily bent out of shape and was quite apt @5359 to puncture the soft metal of the tube. It

was also expensive to manufacture such clips. means of the presentinvention' the above and other disadvantages have been avoided. This has been accomplished by providing a locking clip having the indentations on'theopposite sides;thereof out of alinement with each other, or staggered. The indentations are elongated to provide stiffness for preventing bending, and the adjacent ends thereof are located sufiiciently close to grip the metal of the tube securely but without danger of puncturing it.
