- IMPROVEMENT IN INSECT-POWDER GUNS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 178,050, dated May 30, 1876; application filed May 1, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that -1, CHARLES B. DICKIN- SON, of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings, and in theState of New .York, have invented a new and Improved Insect-Powder Gun, of
which the following is a specification:
bulb, having. its-forward end curved to one side and tapered to a point, and having its other end open, inclined, and provided with a head or collar, as hereinafter fully described.
A is an elongated rubber bulb or nipple, the forward part of which is tapered to a point, a, and is curved to one side, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2. The other end, 01, of the bulb A is open, is inclined, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, and has a head or collar formed upon it. By this inclination of the collar a when the rubber is applied to the neck of a bottle and is held in a horizontal position, a quantity of the powder will rest in the belly of the bulb A, and can be projected upward by compressing the saidbulb. The open end of the bulb A may be closed with a cork, as shown in Fig. 2, and used without a bottle, a sufficient quantity of the powder being poured into said open end before inserting the cork.
' The device may be made with its pointed end closed, as shown in Fig. 2, so that it may be applied to the neck of a bottle containing the powder, and sold with said bottle. In this case the buyer cuts off the point of the bulb with a pair of shears, as shown in Fig. 1, and the device is ready for use.
