E. G. GARTI N ROCK DRILLING MECHANISM Filed Dec. 15, 1922 iFlunTM W912. lllll RN 4 Q Q L. l nU H PU HHHH h Q w 0 Q QQ Q a RN essary, it being clear that concentric streams of air and water will flow through the tubes 12 and 11 when the valve 16 is properly ops erated and water is supplied to the recess 20;
While I have in this application specifically described one form which my invention may assume in practice, it will be understood 7 that this form of the same is shown for purposes of illustration and that the invention 7 maybe modified and embodied in other forms without departingfromits spirit or the scope of the appended-claims."
What I claim asnew and desireto-secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In a cleansing fluid mechanism for a hollow drill steel, apair' of concentric longi-f tudinally arranged tubes for conducting liquid and gaseous cleansing fluid tosaid steelya mounting for said tubescomprising I a rear head member ha-vlng a recess, a flange V on each of said tubes5res1l1ent packlng means in said recess cooperating withsaid flanges toprovide a yielding mounting forsaidtubes including a packing washer surrounding the inner tubeand seating against the flange on said outer tube and closing the end of the same,a gland plug adjustably mounted in saidrecess to compress said packing means and hold said tubes in position, and means for supplying fluid to said outer tube comprising a passage'through'said head memer-leading to said recessjforwardly oi the end of said gland plug, and' means for admitting fluid laterally .from said recess into the bore of said outer 'tubep 2. Ina cleansing fluid mechanism for hollow drill steels; thecombinationspecified in claim l whereinsaid passage'1n the head member 1s connected to a source of gaseous cleansing-fluid; and a connection to said gland plug for supplying cleansing-liquid under pressureto said inner tube.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
