Description

Sept. 23, 1930. A. BAUER 'PASTENIHG non GARIENTS Filed Ilay 27. 1926 PatentedfSept. 23, 1930 UNI-TED STATES PATENT OFFICE ADAM nanna, on MUNICH, GERMANY FASTENING- FOR GARMENTS Application led May 27, 1926, Serial No. 112,020,V and in Germany June -d, 1925.
My invention relates to waist bands for trousers and more particularly to waist bands with abelt housed therein. It is an object of my invention to provide a waist band of this type in which pressure on the stomach and the tendency of the trousers to sag at the Hy, are eliminated.
To this end, instead of arranging thebuckle of the belt in line with the Hy as usually, I provide a slit in the waist band at one side of the Hy so that part of the waist band, with the belt housed therein, extends from the Hy to that side of the slit, and in vthe slit I arrange the buckle of the belt. In
this manner a pull is exerted on the belt in the region of the Hy which prevents sagg I thedrawings alxed to this specification and forming part thereof my invention isv illustrated diagrammatically by way of example.
In the drawings j Fig. 1 is a front elevation,
Fig. 2 is a rear elevation of the upper portion of a pair of trousers,
Fig. 3 shows the Hy opened and v Fig. 4 is a detail illustration of the belt.
, Referring to the. drawings a is the waist line of the trousers and Z) is the waist b and arranged along this waist line in which a belt c is'inserted for free displacement. At the back the waist band is preferably intersticed for a distance ofl about 4 in., exposing the belt. The interstice is provided for facilitating the insertion of the belt and to prevent puckering of the trousers .when the belt is drawn more tightly.
The buckle of the belt projects from another interstice e in the waist band which is arranged at one side of the Hy and is about 2 in. wide. h is the section of the waist band which extends between the buckle and the H It will be seen that the major portion o the waist band b extends from the free edge of the Hy across the seam connecting the Hy to the body of the garment, and, as shown, to the rear interstice, and that they section L extends in the opposite direction from adjacent the edge of the Hy such a distance that the buckle f must be ate vicinity of the Hy atv the right and p the left `side of the Hy so that when drawing the belt the trousers are supported at both sides of the Hy and an upward pull is exerted at this point.
kThe closure of the belt 0 comprisesv a 60 ,buckle f which is slotted at g and a hook adapted to engage the slots so that/the 4belt may be adjusted.
The belt is permanently retained in the trousers and when it is desiredto open the trousers the portion of the belt to which the slotted buckle f is secured is pulled from the short section 71, of the waist band b to the rightand upon closing the trousers it is pushed back through the section L and the hook at its opposite end is inserted in one of the slots g of the buckle f.
I wish it to be understood that I do not desire to be limited to the exact details of construction shown and described for obvious modifications will occur to a person skilled in theart.
I claim:
A pair of trousers having its waist band provided with belt supporting means includ- .ing two elongated tubular portions, one eX- tending across the Hy to a point beyond the seam connecting the Hy to the body of. the garment, and the other said portion extending, in the opposite direction, from adjacent the edge of the Hy such a distance that the fastening means of a belt passing through said tubular portions must be positionedjrelatively remote from the Hy and adjacent the hip of a person wearing the trousers.
In testimony whereof I aHix my signature.
` ADAM BAUER.
