This invention refers to improvements relating to spring upholstered seat-backs, the object being to provide greater efficiency, economy and comfort than hitherto.
In connection with spring mattresses, it has hitherto been proposed to anchor stretched webbings of fabric to a framework and to attach springs to each opposite side of this fabric.
In connection with double sided spring cushions it has previously been proposed to attach to two separate gridsof flat iron or wires stretched across the framework springs arranged in rows to face each side alternately, their inner ends being secured to the grid remote from the surface formed by the outer coils.
In connection with reversible backs of seats, it has previously been proposed to employ a set of coiled springs inside the framework of the back of the seat and to cover these springs with padding attached to said framework at each side of the back of the seat.

According to my present invention, spring upholstered seat backsV consist of single fier:- ible strips of spring steel or other suitable metal havin springs attached to each side thereof thereby imparting a more eflicient or buoyant effect to the reversible back of the seat as it is not necessary to stretch these metal strips and they are equally efficient whether attached to the framework of the seat or not.v f
In accordance with my present invention, the accompanying explanatory diagrammatic drawing shows an outside elevation in Fig. l and a Vfragmentary front elevation in Fig. 2 of the reversible back of a seat as aforesaid, the same construction and arrangement being applicable to fixed backs of seats where the seats are on opposite sides for those seated back to back.
