Description

Aug. 19, 1930'. I H. c. RIEGE PLASTERER S COLLAPSIBLE HAWK Filed Sept. 20, 19 28 Patented'Aug. 1 9, 1930 HENRY c. BIEGIE, or KANSAS cr'rv, MISSOURI PLASTERERS ooLLAPs IBLE HAWK Application filed september 20, 1928. Serial no. 307,161.
The present invention relates to improvements in plasterers hawks and the same-pertains more particularly to a in wk capableof being collapsed for confining the same within 5 the limited compass of a tool box.
The prime object of the invention is to" provide a hawk for use by plasterers capable of being easily divided into several sections, whereby the same may be easily disposed Withinatool box. v i Still another object of the invention is to provide a hawk. of this character wherein the sections thereof may be securely fastened together during the'use of the same.
. A further object resides in the means whereby the parts may be readily assembled or disassembled as the same maybe.
V fter reading the following specification and claims, other important objects and advantages of this invention will become apparent.
In thedrawmgs:
- Figure 1 represents a side elevationof'the improved hawk. b
Figure 2 is a top plan View of the tool, Figure 3 is a transverse sectional view of the device. Referring to the drawings more in. detail, wherein like numerals designate like parts, the material supporting plategenerally referred to by numeral 1 includes a pair of plates 2. and respectively. Each of the plates 2 and 3 is provided with a depending apertured lug 4, through whicha protuberance 5 extending from the complementary section is adapted to project for maintaining the section in substantially cosplanar relation. The abutting edgeportions of the sections 2 and 3 respectively are provided with a ing registering openings therein,
A handle 7 is flared at its upper end portion.
550 In assembling this improved hawk, the T pair of spaced depending members 6-6 havhead is engaged'into the openings of the depending members 6-6, in the manner clearly shown in Figure 30f the drawings. The stem portion 10 is then disposed through the longitudinal bore ofthe handle Tand the project'- ing threaded end portion thereof is equipped with a nut 12, whereby the threading thereof against the adjacent endof the handle will 7 result in the tight'binding of'the plate section against theopposite end of the handle.
For the purpose of preventing the plate section from rotating the handle, teats 13' on the flared end of the handle engage within recesses on the bottom side of the plate section in the manner shown inFigure 3.
It is to be understood that this improved implement. may. be manufactured of any material, and that certain changes in the size and shape thereof may be resorted to, without departing from the spirit of the invention or I the scope of theappended claims;
Having thus described the invention, what is clalmed as new 1s 1. Ina plasterers hawk comprising a material supporting plate constructed of a pair ofabuttingseotions, a handle formed with a recess at its upper end,said sections provided adjacent their abutting edges with depending apertured lugs; said lugs being adapted to engage within the recess of the handle, and
means engageable within the apertures of the lugs for detachably securing the plates together and to thehandle.
2. Apl'asterers hawk comprising a sectional plate for supporting plaster, said sections being disposed in abutting relation, dependingears adjacent the abutting edges of the sections, a handle and adjustable means :onn'ecting the ears to-the'handle.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
',HENRY C. RIEGE.
